campaign issues for the big guy
« on: April 05, 2012, 10:51:54 AM »
This is a public service, temporarily "stickied" to the top of the DUmpster until after the big guy's seen it.

Rezoning, mowing enliven City Council

Quote
Residents of Quail Creek and Lakewood Villages in southwest Bellevue are certainly being heard.

The City Council last week took testimony for the second time on how rezoning land adjacent to the two subdivisions might impact the area's distinctive wildlife and forested areas.

And, due to a procedural glitch, the council will take testimony for a third time at its April 9 session.

Area residents reacted positively to a proposal by Councilman Don Preister that would retain a wooded area along the eastern edge of Lakewood Villages and would establish a 1,500-foot long, 100-foot deep buffer zone between Quail Creek and any new subdivisions to the south.

The buffer zone would link the wooded area to another wooded area to the east via a nature trail

In other matters March 26, the council:

Y Rejected a staff recommendation that the second lowest bid for a contract to mow city right-of-way be accepted at a cost of $80,509.95 for the year.

The council instead awarded the contract to the existing contractor, Neon Green led by Larry Cascio Jr., whose bid was about $13,000 less.

Public Works Director Jerry Hare told council members he could not "in good conscience" recommend renewing Neon Green's contract since he believed its prior performance had been poor.

Council members voted 4-2 to give Cascio another chance after he argued the city took up to seven days to inspect his work instead of the required 24 hours. That delay allowed grass and weeds to grow back, creating the appearance of a job done poorly, he said.

Y Proclaimed April 5 Gold Star Wives Day in Bellevue, and proclaimed April 22 Earth Day.

Y Introduced an ordinance that would establish the position of assistant city administrator at an annual salary of between $70,812 and $87,720.

Y Ceased operations at the Bellevue Marina after voting unanimously to close the 24-year-old facility.

Y Accepted an outside audit of the city's finances that found the books are being kept in accordance with standard accounting practices and that strides had been taken, and are continuing to be taken, to remedy deficiencies.

Y Abolished an ordinance restricting how close gas stations may be located to residential and commercial areas. The ordinance, which dates from 1964, had been found baseless according to international safety standards.

It was also a potential obstacle to plans by Kwik Shop to build a major 15-pump facility along Mission Avenue where the current convenience store is located......

These are the issues of importance to the voters of Bellevue, not some dumb thing about whether to spend $30,000 or $200,000 or whatever for properties outside the Bellevue city limits.

Oh, and for more information,

www.electstevedawes.com

I keep forgetting to do that, so as to provide useful information easily by simply clicking on a link.

No, a major 15-pump non-union facility.

Fifteen pumps! More global warming! Ice sheets melting! Water level rising! The Missouri River will inundate Bellevue!

So now City Council is beholden to Big Pump?

Just wait until Socialist Steve gets wind of this!

Nope; I was just over on Skins's island, and nothing there.

However, while I was doing that, an extraordinary event happened here.

Suddenly the DUmpster was inundated with guests from Skins's island.

The highest total I've ever seen in the DUmpster, of guests.

And the big guy's mole was signed on, coming about the same time.

But now the big guy's mole is gone, as are many of the guests.

I wonder if the big guy was planning to launch his "big surprise" here instead of on Skins's island, and collected a bunch of primitives to come over here with him.....and then decided, nah.

Can Bellevue--indeed, the nation--survive in the absence of this declaration?

Every day without his brilliance is like a day without sunshine.

He owes it to us to tell us what his announcement is.

We should have a graphic.

AMERICA HELD HOSTAGE WITHOUT A MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT: Day 9!
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

AMERICA HELD HOSTAGE WITHOUT A MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT: Day 9!

I earlier speculated on the possibility the big surprise has been delayed because maybe the big guy got pink-slipped by his boss or his union this morning, given what they know the big guy's said about them on www.electstevedawes.com.

That's possible, but not probable.

I then formed a second speculation, that the big surprise was supposed to be the announcement that the big guy collected $35,000 or something at his fund-raiser last evening, and he wanted to rub it into our faces.

Well, as we have three eyewitness reports about the crowd, unless the big guy raked in $5,000 from each attendee including himself, the big guy can't lie to us.

So probably the big surprise fizzled out, and the big guy's hoping we forgot he promised it.

Steve won't have to Nadin this to find out what it means as he has the original source running his campaign.

Maybe he can counter with a proposal to make the 4th Thursday in November diet awareness day.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Socialist Steve is one of those guys who should join the Facial Hair Club for Men, or, far better, shave.

With a little personal grooming, he could become an average, run-of-the-mill, sweaty, fat guy, but nooooo.

He just doesn't care. What a schmo.
