but if the victim had a Florida Concealed Weapon permit and a concealed handgun, he might not be in the hospital today.

In fact in Florida a person can carry a loaded handgun in his car without a license. It has to be securely encased, therefore the victim could have had a handgun in his glove box or console. He might have been able to grab his car gun and defend himself.

Most likely if he would have shown the young thugs that he was armed, they would have ran. However it is possible that he would have been charged with brandishing a firearm if the thugs called the cops before he did.

But firearms are not for everybody. I've always thought that pepper spray was an excellent item to carry for self defense. It has limitations but it is non lethal. I went looking for a link to show an example of a good pepper spray and I ran across what looks like an excellent pepper spray device called the Tornado. It not only allows you to use pepper spray but it has a strobe light and a extremely load alarm. I was so impressed with the video I decided to order one.

Pepper spray....hell, if it doesn't have 4,000 psi at the nozzle and put out at least a 100 gallons a minute it ain't worth having. In other words, if you ain't driving a fire truck loaded with pepper spray, you'r ein danger.

Bear repellent, but I think it may be illegal to use on humans.

A Smith & Wesson or a Ruger or any decent handgun would have more then evened up the odds and depending on how stupid those thugs were they might have even reached room temperature in short order. The down side is a repeat if what's already happened to Zimnermann.

I just finished reading the entire thread.  At one point O'naut points out that the two perps are young black men, and that post was labelled "racist swill."  Leaving out the racial information in the original post appears to be deliberate, and is worked in a little at a time.

There are numerous responses about smelly posts, hammers have other uses, it was a local crime, screen caps of O'naut's posts, and the like, but precious little about the fact that two young black men beat a white man with a hammer just to get his car and that there are no celebrities, no presidential press releases, no 24 hour coverage by DUmmies. 

I don't think they want to admit that crime, other than 'white on black' crime, exists.  Anything else is just not sensational enough.
