Uh, two things...the ID requirement is being done in individual STATES, not the federal government. The fed is supposed to be limited so that states & individuals can have more freedom. Truly idiotic to not understand that. And one does NOT have to vote, thus getting an ID is optional (though how anyone of voting age has managed to go through life for without an ID is mind boggling). Voting is a privilege and carries with it certain responsibilities, among them following the rules of one's state.
But hey, you guys got Kagan on the court and she was responsible for writing the arguments in favor of 0bamacare. And the "wise Latina" is loaded with an abundance of empathy. Ruthie is trying to argue the administration's case for them and Breyer is an idiot who will follow whatever the left wants. Oh and two of the justices think the Constitution isn't worth the paper it's printed on and would rather follow ones from Cuba or Denmark or something.
Cindie
Actually Cindie, it's more complicated than that. No one has a right to vote in a federal election, which is the Presidential election since all others are state elections (See Bush v Gore), and electoral vote overrides popular vote because we're a Republic, not a Democracy. At the state level, state Constitutions lay forth who can vote. However, the US Constitution states in the 14th and 15th that when they allow people to vote, they can't put stipulations on which people can vote based on certain measures.
Oh, and lurking DUmpmonkies, if you think you have the right to vote in a federal election, you might want to tell Jesse Jackson Jr., one of your congressmen.
