As information starts leaking out about Trayvon Martin's suspension, drugs, and possible record, Black leaders are trying to intimidate the Sanford City Council to go on the record about whether or not Zimmerman should be arrested.

SANFORD — Speaker [sic], one after the next, in a packed Sanford Civic Center, have pressed city council members to say — for the record — whether they believe George Zimemrman should be arrested for the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

"Go on the record today in support of the arrest of George Zimmmerman," said Marc Morial, president of the National Urban League.

The Rev. Al Sharpton told Sanford leaders tonight that the city risked a reputation as a place where the civil rights of black people are trampled if it did not take action in the Trayvon Martin case.

"You are risking going down as the Birmingham and Selma of the 21st century," Sharpton said at the Sanford Civic Center, which is packed with hundreds of people.

And the City Council is risking the New Black Panthers at their door and a media character assassination like none they have ever seen.

This is no more and no less than blackmail.

Trayvon's mother was on The CBS Evening News tonight. She was crying for the cameras of course. She said something to the effect, "They have destroyed/killed/murdered my son and now they're trying to destroy his reputation."...uh...lady....uh...Trayvon did that himself.

They's a story out somewhere that says his brother tweeted about Trayvon having an altercation with a bus driver...hmmmm (heard this on radio)

That alone should have people in the jailhouse but we know that won't happen. this is looking more and more like a bad attempt to revisit the 50's and 60's and they (Rev Al and his gang) won't care who's blood is spilled so long as they get their way

Oh, it's more than blackmail, alright--it's a threat of violence if a certain segment of the community doesn't get their way.

Not sure if it is at that link or not but .. It has been 'discovered' that Martin was caught with a bunch of women's jewelry and a screwdriver on his person (or in his school locker?) which was confiscated and he was never arrested because .. He Said .. a friend gave them to him!

Multiple suspensions paint complicated portrait of Trayvon Martin

SANFORD -- Miami Gardens teenager Trayvon Martin was suspended from school in October in an incident in which he was found in possession of women’s jewelry and a screwdriver that a schools security staffer described as a “burglary tool,” The Miami Herald has learned.

Trayvon, who claimed that an unnamed friend had given him the jewelry, was not disciplined because of the discovery, but was instead suspended for graffiti, according to a Miami-Dade Schools Police report obtained by The Miami Herald.

A lawyer for the dead teen’s family acknowledged Trayvon had been suspended for graffiti, but said the family knew nothing about the jewelry and the screwdriver, calling the information in the report an attempt to “demonize” the youth.

According to the report, on Oct. 21 staffers monitoring a security camera at Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School spotted Trayvon and two other students writing “W.T.F.,” an acronym for “What the f---,” on a hallway locker, according to schools police. The security employee, who knew Trayvon, confronted the teen and looked through his bag for the graffiti marker.

Trayvon’s backpack contained 12 pieces of jewelry, in addition to a watch and a large flathead screwdriver, according to the report, which described the screwdriver as a burglary tool.

Trayvon was asked if the jewelry, which was mostly women’s rings and earrings, belonged to his family or a girlfriend.

“Martin replied it’s not mine. A friend gave it to me,” according to the report. Trayvon declined to name the friend.

School police impounded the jewelry and sent photos of the items to detectives at Miami-Dade police for further investigation.

“Martin was suspended, warned and dismissed for the graffiti,” according to the report prepared by Miami-Dade Schools Police.

That suspension was followed four months later by another one, in February, in which Trayvon was caught with an empty plastic bag with traces of marijuana in it, the boy’s family’s attorney has confirmed. A schools police report obtained by The Miami Herald specifies two items: a bag with marijuana residue and a “marijuana pipe.”

The suspension was the third for the teen. On Monday, the family also acknowledged Trayvon had earlier been suspended for tardiness and truancy....

Funny, but on the RARE occasions that anyone brought drugs on school property when I was a "yute", that was cause for immediate expulsion, not suspension.

Former NAACP leader C.L. Bryant is accusing Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton of “exploiting” the Trayvon Martin tragedy to “racially divide this country.”

“His family should be outraged at the fact that they’re using this child as the bait to inflame racial passions,” Rev. C.L. Bryant said in a Monday interview with The Daily Caller.

The conservative black pastor who was once the chapter president of the Garland, Texas NAACP called Jackson and Sharpton “race hustlers” and said they are “acting as though they are buzzards circling the carcass of this young boy.”

.......But Bryant, who explores the topic of black-on-black crime in his new film “Runaway Slave,” said people like Jackson and Sharpton are being misleading to suggest there is an epidemic of “white men killing black young men.”

“The epidemic is truly black on black crime,” Bryant said. “The greatest danger to the lives of young black men are young black men.”

Bryant said he wishes civil rights leaders were protesting those problems.

“Why not be angry about the wholesale murder that goes on in the streets of Newark and Chicago?” he asked. “Why isn’t somebody angry about that six-year-old girl who was killed on her steps last weekend in a cross fire when two gang members in Chicago start shooting at each other? Why is there no outrage about that?”

Bryant said he worries that “people like Sharpton and those on the left” will make Martin’s death a campaign issue in the presidential race.

He speculated that they will “turn this evolving tragedy of this young man into fodder to say… if you don’t re-elect Obama then you will have unbridled events or circumstances like this happening in the streets to young men wearing hoodies.”

He also criticized President Obama for his “nebulous statement” responding to Martin’s death that “if I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon.”

“What does that mean?” Bryant asked. “What was the purpose in that?”

Just heard they're assigning a new prosecuting attorney to the case.  I have a feeling that they are going to get their trial, and between the prep and the TV coverage, we're looking at another OJ Simpson type trial for the rest of the election cycle. There will be coverage every night, coverage on Court TV, coverage on CSPAN even, and it might even get them ratings.

All this constant coverage to make Blacks feel like Obama is helping them, when he hasn't really done jack.

It's the worst kind of political theater.  All we have left against it is prayer.

Not necessarily.  There are lots of social theories that make their way into education (and the schools) about how the white power structure allows in a few high-profile blacks and allows the rest to fall by the wayside.  This book has become extraordinarily popular in liberal circles of late:



It has received great acclaim from the mainstream media.  The basic argument of the book is most thoroughly presented by its author in Mother Jones Magazine:

Obama's mere presence in the Oval Office is offered as proof that "the land of the free" has finally made good on its promise of equality. There's an implicit yet undeniable message embedded in his appearance on the world stage: this is what freedom looks like; this is what democracy can do for you. If you are poor, marginalized, or relegated to an inferior caste, there is hope for you. Trust us. Trust our rules, laws, customs, and wars. You, too, can get to the promised land.

Perhaps greater lies have been told in the past century, but they can be counted on one hand. Racial caste is alive and well in America.

Most people don't like it when I say this. It makes them angry. In the "era of colorblindness" there's a nearly fanatical desire to cling to the myth that we as a nation have "moved beyond" race. Here are a few facts that run counter to that triumphant racial narrative:

*There are more African Americans under correctional control today—in prison or jail, on probation or parole—than were enslaved in 1850, a decade before the Civil War began.

*As of 2004, more African American men were disenfranchised (due to felon disenfranchisement laws) than in 1870, the year the Fifteenth Amendment was ratified, prohibiting laws that explicitly deny the right to vote on the basis of race.

* A black child born today is less likely to be raised by both parents than a black child born during slavery. The recent disintegration of the African American family is due in large part to the mass imprisonment of black fathers.

*If you take into account prisoners, a large majority of African American men in some urban areas have been labeled felons for life. (In the Chicago area, the figure is nearly 80%.) These men are part of a growing undercaste—not class, caste—permanently relegated, by law, to a second-class status. They can be denied the right to vote, automatically excluded from juries, and legally discriminated against in employment, housing, access to education, and public benefits, much as their grandparents and great-grandparents were during the Jim Crow era.

You can see where this is going.  In the end, Obama's presence in the White House means nothing.  That is the real mindset.
