I took a look at conservativecave this morning and saw how they savaged a guest who came at their invitation to discuss issues.

He's hunting me up a "Judge". I want one with at least a 6" barrel. All I've seen for sale in shops have a 2" barrel.

I like the Glock 26, small, easily concealable, with extended magazine a total of 18 rounds with one in the chamber.  Add a second mag, and you have enough firepower to stop even the most over-medicated crook(s).

I've been contemplating it for carrying, but want to look at some other options before I decide.

Shooting our 9mm S&W causes her back and shoulders to hurt for 3-4 days afterwards.

Yep. Going to buy a box of the 3" #4's and a box of buckshot to play with and test in it before stocking up.

They used to, my dad would go deer hunting with a single-shot .410 with rifled slugs.

I suspect it wouldn't work out too well.
.451-.452 dia for the 45lc bore, is a bit larger than a .410 slug.
Lead stripping may be an issue.

Powder gas and pressure would immediately escape, bleed off power, and blow your shot pattern to hell.

A shot load would probably be more effective than a rattling, tumbling rifled slug, but either way, you'd need to be within spitting distance, just a very few feet for any decent effect.

The stubby little grip on that gun looks like it would be brutal on your hand.

I've never shot one of these guns, but from the looks of it I don't think I want to try.

I'd rather have something more pleasant to shoot. The more you use a weapon the more likely you can use it effectively.

Here's what I'm thinking. I want something that is deadly in close quarters, 15' to 20'
but won't pass through one or more walls or kill someone a block away. If you miss your target, the projectile doesn't stop right there and drop to the ground. Yes, It won't have the power of a 24" shotgun barrel and it's not going to hold a tight pattern, the rifling in the barrel will also effect that I think.

I have big hands and finding a pistol with good grips for me is difficult but I have some...uh....pleasure shooters.

Whoa....he says it will only fire 2 1/2" shells...I was told it would shoot 3" shells...if it won't shoot 3" shells, I don't want it.

I had, for a short time, a "45/.410 snake gun back in the 60's but it too only fired

Yes, he does.  In the forums/message boards, there's someone who touts a .410 shotgun (Mossy 500 Cruiser) as a good home defense weapon.  I'd comsider it, if I 1) didn't already have a Mossy 500 Cruiser in 12 gauge; and 2) didn't already have in the pipeline a Mossy 500 Cruiser in 20 gauge for my wife.
