Not according to the sources I have. I have very good sources that has told me many stories.
It's a eye opener for those who didn't know.
Sorry folks, but my time in CC is over. I'll see you around the bend.
You know, if anything the most rotund, healthiest pancreatic cancer patient in history and his sycophants owe us a debt of gratitude. More than anything else you guys imagine yourselves to be victims, bravely pushing against the forces holding you down. Doesn't matter whether you're rich or poor (let's face it, there are more one percenters on the left than the right), white, black, green, gay, straight, etc. you all think your fighting some noble battle against the forces of evil. You're all smarter than your bosses but can't get ahead, the best employee of the company so they fire you (presumably out of jealousy), your families are conservatives and your always trying to grace them with the truth but they refuse to listen so all you do is fight. You're so wise and see so much that others don't it makes your brains hurt so you have to swallow as many kinds of antidepressants as you can, the more head drugs you have to take the more you bravely suffer for your wisdom against a cruel, stupid, overly religious world. I must be a freaking genius.
So when you have the opportunity to turn someone into a martyr to make him the symbol of all you think you should be, you jump at the chance to live vicariously through him. And along comes Andy. Already disgraced from his association with Black Box Voting, DU votes back on the island. He makes a few speeches about vote fraud and chants "voter verified paper ballots" and he's a hero. As if you'd really want that...in order to verify your ballot you'd have to prove who you were, probably with some form of photo ID. Except suddenly he's gravely ill. There were so many practical, timely solutions he could have chosen...including going to one of the best pancreatic cancer hospitals in the country in his own backyard. But that would be too easy...no, this had to be a quest to go to a hospital that uses exactly the same protocols (WITHOUT Medicaid, which would have been available had his doctor only referred him), requiring a hero's journey across the country. How does one struggle against evil if one simply chooses the easiest, most practical and health conscious choice?
Facts & logic be damned! Suddenly, "freepers are trying to kill Andy for trying to get the truth out"! And his best coup was poor, stupid Beth, whose chaotic, long & poorly run fundraiser with absolutely no way to verify funds kept him from getting treatment for much longer than if he would if he'd simply gone to Virginia Mason. The more we pointed out the truth the louder Andy and his groupies hollered "VICTIM". Poor man was bravely battling a dreaded disease, a cruel medical establishment and evil freepers. You guys hit the trifecta! The end result, of course, is that he probably got more donations than he would if anyone was thinking with their heads. The thought of being a part of such a grand martyrdom, well, all it took was suspending the facts in front of you and belieeeeeeeeve!
Thus, the rotund one got more money with us than he would have without us. Same with Steve Dawes. He's getting more attention (and campaign money) than he would without us. Granted, he'll never have the gravitas of Andy but at least he can be a mini martyr.
