Maybe anyone could have beaten Carter, but Reagan was not proof of it. He is the best President the country could have ever hoped for.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

Admit it--he's about as "Republican" as Deval Patrick.  Those "red" states are going to hold their noses just like they did with McCain, and the swing states aren't going to see a shit shade's worth of difference between Obama and Romney.

Please explain to me where I'm wrong.  And nice to see you were also unable/unwilling to answer my previous question regarding Romneycare/Obamacare, but nice try dodging anyway.

Please show me any indication how  STATE legislation is equivalent to FEDERAL legislation.    Romney would of course repeal it.    :whatever:

Yeah, Romney and Deval are about the same.  Riiiight.  I just live here, but wtf do I know?

Well, from where I sit...he's the one who started the ball rolling.  MA has the highest waits and premiums in the nation, thanks to Romney (and don't blame the Legislature--HE signed that bill.)

And as has been opined here many times before, Romney 1--still doesn't have a majority of the GOP primary voters in his camp, 2--will be a "conservative" exactly long enough to secure the nomination/Presidency, at which point he goes back to being the pro-abortion, big-government RINO statist he was before.

Again, tell me where that's so different than Patrick.

That's pretty much how it's going to play out, LA.  It won't be so much a Romney win, as an Obama loss.

Carter in 1976 was living proof that ANYONE could have run following Nixon (and face it--Ford was little more than a placeholder), and Reagan in 1980 was living proof that ANYONE could have beaten Carter.

Obama in 2008 was living proof that ANYONE could have beaten pretty much any GOP nominee by running on the "I'm not Bush--he IS" platform, Romney will win in 2012 on the "I'm not Obama" mantra, but in reality, there's not a whole lot different between the two insofar as domestic policy goes.

Actually back in the carter times Reagan wasn't given much hope in the beginning. til the actual election results started rolling in.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

Are you speaking in the general election or the primaries?  Granted, I was but a young pup back in those days, but two lines he said stick in my mind that ensured his future as president:

Primary: "I'm paying for this microphone, Mister Green."  (Actually, the editor of the Nashua Telegraph's name was Breen, but nobody noticed.)  A number of people took note of that, and from there, Reagan won New Hampshire and went on to win the nomination.

General: "Are you better off than you were four years ago?"  Polls had Carter and Reagan neck-and-neck up to that point, where Reagan said this line during the closing statement of their one and only debate.  Again, that line served to push him over the top--or the fact that "alternative media" back in 1980 simply didn't exist and the "15-point lead" that Even Thomas spoke of regarding Kerry back in 2004 really did exist in the late 70's/early 80's.  Remember also that Reagan beat Carter by almost 10 points with John Anderson, whose supporters would almost surely have overwhelming voted for Reagan, got another 7 percent.  Even if Carter and Reagan had evenly split the Anderson vote, you're still looking at an 11-12 point victory for Reagan.

Let's see, when Obama has stated MORE THAN ONCE that Romneycare was in fact the TEMPLATE for Obamacare, well, take from that what you will.

And when I see Romney's record as governor, his statements, actions, etc., tell me that "I just live here" justifies willful ignorance of what he did as governor and what he's more than likely to do as president.

Of course, I'm just an American, what do I know?

Nice try but no.  You hate him cause all the cool conservatives do, nothing more.

State rights - perhaps you heard of it?  With regard to Romneycare you would have if you are actually listening to Romney.  But no chance of that happening right?

When you compare Romney to Patrick you already lost the argument.  Facts.  Get some.

The heart of the matter is, to me anyways, that if Mitt Romney is the nominee, I will vote for him.

Romney also had a severely liberal Democratic legislature to contend with.  I somehow doubt that the US Senate and US House of Representatives will be anything near as liberal as the Massachusetts legislature.  This will influence what bills make it to his desk.

Uh, try again.  I dislike (not hate) because he's a smarmy used car salesman type who tells people what they want to hear, then does what he wants.  He's either been in or running for political office for 20-plus years, yet we're supposed to believe him when he says he's not a career politician?  If he ain't, what IS?

States rights?  When he believes what happned in MA, his plan was foisted on a national stage.  No way in hell he'd scrap Obamacare en toto.  Not a ****ing chance.

How many times did Romney raise taxes in his tenure as governor?  How much did he piss on individual rights?  How many times has he changed his mind on any given subject over the past 20 years, based solely on what audience he was speaking to at the time?

No, dearest--the reason I don't like Romney is the same reason I don't like most politicians--NO ****ING SPINE, NO CORE BELIEFS, NO PRINCIPLES.

He bends whichever way the wind blows.  That is exactly the kind of person we DON'T need, DON'T want, CAN'T afford at this critical juncture in our history.

If he's gonna get my vote, he better grow a set, and fast.  Big, hairy, brass ones.  So far, he ain't got 'em.

Romney made a promise that he will repeal Obamacare. Of course we will have to see if he does or not if he gets in.

That will be one of the things that will be waiting on his desk when he takes office.  The Republican Congress will force it upon him.  He won't have a choice.

Romney also said that Obama did it all wrong, and if it was based off of Romneycare, Obama should have called him. The thing that I don't understand is if Obamacare is so great, why are unions and the government getting a waiver from it?

Ok, for the record as you seem to have developed political amnesia -- ALL POLITICIANS TELL PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR.    If you believe for one second - even the tiniest of seconds, otherwise then I can't help you.    Santorum's bio by the way, which you seem to not be aware of given the career politicion comments:  http://2012.republican-candidates.org/Santorum/Biography.php

He never raised taxes as governor, he raised fees and he has explained that the fee hike was necessary to cover the cost of the service.   He took on Bulger and the Democratic leadership in the statehouse to rid the state of his massive salary and that of his out of control ridiculous office.    He then went after one of his own in Amorella and rid the state of his bloated bullshit salary.

I have written ad nauseum on Romneycare - what we have today is nothing what Romney envisioned or proposed.   Deval Patrick and the liberal statehouse made it what it is today.    Romney has said from day one it's a state decision, and should never be a federal mandate.

But what am I saying,  :banghead: would be a far more productive use of my time.

Santorum had his moment and he lost.  Let it go now.     We HAVE to win this thing.

A fee levied at any government level is nothing more than a tax by another name.  IMO.

Obamacare originally called the non-compliance penalty a "fee" IIRC, now since the courts have been reviewing the issue, they (current admin.) are claiming that it is actually a tax.

Same thing merely called another name IMO.

As will I.  The next President will nominate 2-3 SCOTUS justices.  That has far longer reaching impact than a 4-8 year term in the WH.

I also think that the longer the primaries stretch out the better.  It will limit the amount of time that the Obama regime has to attack the GOP nominee.

Sadly, I just discovered that Mitt's birthday is two days after mine and due to identity politics, we are both Piscean after all, I may be forced to vote for him. Tribesmen must stick together, after all.

I will have to see who the Union of Piscean's local 310 endorses.
