ETA: Milton Freidman said the key to politics isn't to find the right man but to reward the wrong man for doing the right thing. I constitution assumes the wrong man is elected in its every line.

We need to swallow hard and vte Romney but we need to double down on House and Senate races. It hedges against a Romney loss and will drag Romney further right in the event he does squeak out a win.

SSB, I certainly agree on the Congressional races, but every talking head in the MSM has been dying to declare the primaries, and the GE Presidential race, over since Iowa and NH. 

It's just as meaningless as it is tiresomely stupid.  The GE will be mainly decided on events and perceptions within no more than 60 days of the GE.  All the polling now is fueled by various agendas trying to shift perceptions, and the thirst of the press for content even when it's obvious there really isn't any.  Obozo could have a ten-point lead over any possible GOP challenger now and it really wouldn't mean a damned thing.

Bless Rick Santorum, won Kansas today by a large margin. Amazing what he's doing with his limited financial resources. The people really don't want Romney. If either Santorum or Gingrich pull out of the race soon, Romney will be crushed by the conservatives in the primaries. It will be no contest, despite the bucks he throws out there.

SLW, that's what pisses me off the most about him (Well, aside from the faux Conservativism), he is outspending his opposition by at least 4 to 1 in every contest to lose or eke out unconvincing wins, so he is essentially just burying Santorum and Gingrich with negative ads and buying his way to the nomination.

Caucus is a FAR different animal than a state primary election.    Santorum, has no freakin chance of winning the general election so if he was a good conservative he would bow the freak out and go for the win as a party because the end game for the future of our country is ANYONE BUT OBAMA.   Except that is not how they play in this playground is it.  The playground being politics of course.

I'll turn it back on you that Santorum is barely hanging on by the skin of his teeth.  If he was so damn good and could win the GE, then he should have pulled far in front of this race a LONG time ago.   Except he hasn't... because of money (not enough people believe in him to write him a check)... or is it because the "elite media" want Romney, uh yeah about that.   True conservatives don't listen to the "elite media" so apparently there aren't enough of them to make a pittance of a difference in the primary (let alone the GE)  to get him over the top.    If that is in fact true (which I don't know which elite media is pining for him as all I read is negative Nancy crap), then this elite media is heavily influencing the moderate Republicans... you know,  the RINOs.     Hmmm, guess there are FAR more RINOs than you think isn't there?   Which brings me back to something I have said for YEARS -- moderates (R and D) decide elections.    The far extreme base of each party do not.

I want this to be over and for Romney to just start his focus on the POS who needs to leave the position of leader of the free world.   The sooner the better for all of us.

And Santorum wins primaries as well, in case you haven't noticed.  I saw what Romney did.  I see his phony brand of conservatism and know he'll invoke Reagan exactly as many times as needed to fool just enough people to get the nomination, then spit on the ground every time he's mentioned that name.

IOW, he's a slicked-back used car salesman peddling the fact he's not Obama when in fact his record shows he's about half a shade to the right, if that.  You think if Congress sent a bill repealing Obamacare to his desk on January 21st, 2013, he'd sign it or veto it?  How about his spending policy?  Tax policy?  Getting the ****ing government off our backs policy?

Think about that, then get back to me.

As far as electibility, I think Romney is the one. He is the closest thing to Obama, which will make it a tight race. It is going to get to where you will have to vote for him. Especially if you want Obama out of there. Will he do better than obama? We won't know till he gets there. I will just be glad to see a republican in there again.

For the third consecutive day, Mitt Romney leads President Obama by five points in a hypothetical 2012 matchup. It is still, however, too early to tell if these results reflect a lasting change in the race or are merely statistical noise. Today's numbers show Romney at 48%, Obama at 42%. That matches the largest lead Romney has ever enjoyed over the president. Matchup results are updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern

If Rick Santorum is the Republican nominee, he is up by one point over the president, 45% to 44%. He receives 77% support from Republican voters and is up three among unaffiliateds. Santorum and Romney are the only Republican candidates to lead the president more than one time in the polls.

Santorum and Romney both lead Obama among men but trail among women. Both Republicans trail the president among those under 40 but lead among those 40 and older.

Overall, 44% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's job performance. Fifty-four percent (54%) at least somewhat disapprove.

Looking at Tuesday's upcoming primaries, the GOP race in Alabama is essentially a three-way tie, while Romney leads by eight in Mississippi.  Nationally, Romney now leads Santorum by 12 points.  Regardless of who they want to win, 80% of Republican Primary Voters nationwide believe Romney will be the party's nominee.

I think it's the wimmins that will pick the next President.

So while at an all you can eat Chinese American buffet with everything from Alasken Crab legs to FROG LEGS I was standing looking at the deep fat fried legs wondering how brave I was to try them.  I am muttering under my breath darn so many choices, when get this, a strange woman behind me began to laugh.  

Here we go folks, --------"The problem with all this is all the choices, makes you really hungry, then after a small amount you are no longer hungry. "   So far so I good I had to agree with her, then she floored me by remarking as she walked away, " This reminds me of politics."  Both of us were laughing and headed off to our tables.

Now it was just a few days ago I wrote I had never talked to strangers or had strangers speak to me about politics or religion and darn here was a never say never to what can happen.

When I got back to my table with a spoon full of this or that on my plate, I began to think about her comment and found she had a point.   The plates are only half the size of regular dinner plates and by sampling a spoon of this and that everything began to taste the same. We did fill up fast as she had said and I will be darn as I felt  full after eating just one small plate.  

Nothing really stands out about the different selections to me now like Politics, some was bland, some spicy.  BUT nothing made me go back for more, it all tasted the same.   Most of the dishes were the same ingredients set with different meats and sauces.   AND, I was just too full to want any more.  

This stranger was right, a nice lady and spot on.    Place all our GOP on a small plate and they run together, different labels but all have the same ingredients with a small addition of different spices.  

Now Obama was the frogs legs, nasty looking and nothing I would want to eat, But I bet if I had put one on my plate the taste would have stood out as,---That's one thing I do not want to eat again.

we were taught in school to shame.  We were never taught that only the wealthiest in the land could become President.  One today does not get elected as the best leader, one becomes elected when they can afford to BUY the Presidency, or do a dirty trick as they did Cain, darn he was one of my favorites.

While it is true that the newly elected President probably raised the most money during the campaign, the two are not that closely related. It's not personal money that "buys" elections. Money in politics can be thought of as an exercise of free speech. The candidate whose candidacy wins the most followers, will have those followers expressing their free speech, in support either monetarily or not.

I've read in a couple places Ohio by and large is out of play as a swing state this year.  Strongly Red.

Admit it--he's about as "Republican" as Deval Patrick.  Those "red" states are going to hold their noses just like they did with McCain, and the swing states aren't going to see a shit shade's worth of difference between Obama and Romney.

I've read in a couple places Ohio by and large is out of play as a swing state this year.  Strongly Red.

Obama is also losing badly in other red states he won the last time . If he can not win most of them in Nov, he is a one term president. I think that is what is going to happen. I don't like Romney but I think he could win easily.

That's pretty much how it's going to play out, LA.  It won't be so much a Romney win, as an Obama loss. 

Carter in 1976 was living proof that ANYONE could have run following Nixon (and face it--Ford was little more than a placeholder), and Reagan in 1980 was living proof that ANYONE could have beaten Carter.

Obama in 2008 was living proof that ANYONE could have beaten pretty much any GOP nominee by running on the "I'm not Bush--he IS" platform, Romney will win in 2012 on the "I'm not Obama" mantra, but in reality, there's not a whole lot different between the two insofar as domestic policy goes.
