Go for the irony, stay for the beatdown
« on: March 08, 2012, 09:08:03 AM »
Too much to bring over.

It's starts out as a thread meant to get them hopped-up over the fact federal authorities are killing wolves ala Sarah Palin. Since they damned Sarah for it they have to maintain their rage.

Personally, I don't understand the difference of killing some from above vs. eye-level but I long ago stopped looking for ratinal thought processes and just assume they're being emotional.

Still, it's fun watching the people who will demand your deepest held beliefs become subservient to the all-knowing, all-powerful benevolent State are suddenly not happy that The State is shooting puppies from low orbit.

That alone drew me in but then an epic struggle broke-out between lontime poster ProgressiveProfessor vs. some n00b by the name red dog 1.

THAT is worth reading.

BTW - just to give you a clue about what a putz RD1 is, please note his name is designed to sound like a military call sign. However, while he wants to look as serious and capable as the military he obviously doesn't know shit about it in real terms as the command element of a unit generally does not use 1 as their designator. red dog 6 would have been much more convincing.

Oh my Lord, the squabbling!  No time to wade through all that; I do have agree with a DUmmie one thing.  PP says that elk is better meat than deer, and I agree.  I had some a superbowl party once, and it was soooo good.

Why don't these DUmmies have duels with pistols, like the good old days?

Because they'd blow their own heads off.

This is how they should settle it:

That post was positively allegorical.  With red dog 1 playing the poor wolf and the progressive professor the heartless, trigger happy federal agent in the helicopter.

An excellent observation, progressive professor just beats the shit out of the poor boob in that thread, without a bit of rudeness or impropriety...indeed, as workmanlike as an expert rifleman in a helicopter.

I have had elk meat once, and it would have made excellent shoe soles but for the fact it would have been too rough on the pavement.

Elk is good, although any wild game IMHO is good.

To the lurking DUmmies, it's even better when you hunt it down and process it yourself.  No I'm not broke, just enjoy the sport of bowhunting, and yes, per pound I pay more than I would if I bought beef in the store, but again where is skill in hunting down something pre-packaged.

DUmmies dueling with pistols would almost certainly result in a 100% casualty rate........all self-inflicted.

Elk is excellent! Just remember that there isn't much fat in the meat. It can dry out pretty fast on the grill.

As far as stalking my everyday meat protein ration at the supermarket, I've yet to experience a steak escaping my bagging it after stepping on a twig or a sudden wind shift.

Hell, "home grown" is better than 90% of what's in the stores today.

We used to put 1-2 cows in the freezers every year, usually one young one for the steaks, and older one for hamburger.  There were 3 of us boys, myself and 2 brothers, 'nuff said.  Spent many a day with my mom and dad cutting, grinding (I got to "process" the hamburger), and wrapping.

Didn't one of the DUmbasses once post that there was no need to kill animals when you could just go to the store to get meat?"
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
