Not so "interesting" to me:

Interesting, so today I met one more FORMER republican.
We were talking of how crazee the party has gone (why she left), and how far RIGHT the political system has gone.

This is anecdotal purely, but we do have studies that do show that moderate republicans have gone into the democratic party.

But what is fascinating is the description she gave of modern day Republicans and we pretty much agreed this is a party that these days runs on faith and fear.

What is fascinating is that we were also talking of how pols are doing shit like going to somebody else's events and forcing the speaker to stop their prepared remarks and adress them, (don't care what party) and how this is not healthy for our democracy.

Of course Citizens United came up, and yes OCCUPY. She has a pretty good opinion of Occupy, and sees them as the wake up call the country needs to pull away from the edge of that dang table. Oh and the war on women... has her fuming. She is of that generation that still remembers back alleys. Oh and as to occupy she said that the media is doing it's best to marginalize them, and they are not succeeding, at least in her circle of friends. Every story they see in the media these days is evaluated for it's anti people bias. (Our local media can be really bad).

So this is where we are... and I agree, this conversation falls in the truly anecdotal. (And she makes some kick ass cheese cake, hubby tells me, to boot)

I haven't checked her resume lately, but based on that poor Bouncy I have to assume that the one thing she's not trained in is CREATIVE writing.
“Don’t vote for the person who tells you you deserve something. Just don’t do it if it’s something other than life, liberty, or the pursuit of possible happiness. If everyone is telling you you deserve something, vote for the one who is promising you the least. Be suspicious of the man or woman who tell you deserve everything. Because you don’t.” ---Mike Rowe

7. Yeah anecdotally that is what I have come across too

Anecdotally I challenged a state senator a few years back on the zero taxes stance he took. He had all convinced. I asked him... if we pay zero state taxes, and your salary comes from those taxes... who will pay your salary?

The implication was clear and those people who were all convinced had a bulb go on in their heads.

Now I wish a political scientist or two did the statistical work to see if our anecdotal experience matches.

 :whatever:

WTF?

Many of the original founding fathers were paid little to no salary to be part of the legislature.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

They have failed, and are bringing in SEAL team SEVEN - the extra number means they have nearly 12% more SEAL power !

nadin must've been on some good hash when that conversation took place.

I believe "a" conversation took place, but not in the way nadin recounts it.

Here in red state hell, we pay no state income tax, nor do we pay a municipal income tax.

Nevertheless, our politicians have no problem buying Escalades, the roads are in good shape, schools outperform the blue cesspools, and the cops come when we call. I don't need the state for anything else.

I don't think the problem is with public schools, but with the unions and the liberals that have commandeered them for indoctrination.  There are still many smaller schools away from liberal hell holes that manage to produce good kids.  Even some of the worst liberal ran schools can produce good kids if their parents keep interested.

Unions have destroyed education. Agreed.
