 many modern Christians are way,way less devout than most followers of say, the Quran. I live in America. Most people that I know that claim to be religious and go to church regularly, etc...only follow those teachings and commandments of their faith that are convenient. Many American Christians are simply hedging their bets on the kingdom of heaven, doing as little as possible In the way of what their faith apparently requires. In many predominantly Muslim countries, it's not unusual to see most of the people falling to the ground in prayer five times a day for example. Most of the men wear beards. The women have subordinate roles in society and often have to cover themselves, etc. Most "Christians" that i know follow very little of the tenets of their religion. They are just not that into it so naturally their reaction to a bible burning would be much less dramatic.

Back when Christianity was about the same age that Islam is now, my oh my but the streets of Europe were running red with the blood of Christians killing each other. Of course this took place after several "crusades" where the Christians went off to kill all those not Christian (tho' some Christians who had the audacity to have nice cities and stuff were often treated to the same stuff as the "infidels").

So, um, what was your point again? I imagine you're trying to imply Christianity is oh-so-much more sophisticated than Islam? Less violent? Less oppressive? Yeah, I think you're on the wrong board or that.

Because from what I've read about Afghanistan, the Koran burning is kind of the cherry on a shit sundae we've been serving up to them for the last decade. Add in 10 years of oppressive occupation, random killings of civilians, spoliation of the land, disruption of everyday life and culture, and then this topper? Remember how discombobulated our entire country got over a couple of buildings getting knocked down and a few thousand people being killed? We still haven't recovered, and our reaction still isn't over, worse than any riots that might be occurring in Afghanistan.

If you're trying to build some kind of cultural superiority argument on behalf of the United States, you might want to start over again.

I could go on but hard to top that one. :bird:

I asked and received one of those free korans from cair a few years ago. It was desecrated in every way I could think of. In the end it was obliterated with 00 buck.

Okay DUmmies follow this.  A bible is just ink, binding, leather, and paper.  The truth is not destroyed just because the book containing the truth is destroyed, there is always another book.  For a christian to riot over the destruction of a bible would be idolatry which does not keep with the tenents of the bible.

Muslims?  Hell, they can not tell you truthfully if they are reading the right version of the koran.  There were at least fifty-two different versions of the koran while the Prophet Muhammed was still able to rape pigs and little girls.  The prophet himself could not remember which version was the right one so they just picked one they liked and issued a fatwa to destroy the other copies.  Said another way, their holy koran could be a total fiction and they have no way to know.  Maybe that is a part of why they go berserk whenever they see a drawing of Mohammed or a see a book being disposed of in a way they don't like.

Just to reiterate, to keep it real simple for the DUmbasses. 

It's also why we don't worship men, such as the idolization of the commie in the white house.  Or fawn and obssess over celebrities, to the point where we don't know what's going on in the world.

I don't worship the Bible, I worship the living God - every single copy of the Bible could be destroyed, but (as it says in the Bible itself) 'the word of the Lord endureth forever' and 'the gates of hell shall not prevail against [the Church]'.

Can someone.Anyone point to me where it says in the Bible or a written order from the churches saying that all followers of Christianity have to kill or harm anyone that desecrates the Bible or a Church? I'd like to know here that is because I have never seen it or heard it . I also do not remember anytime during the past 200 years or more where the Pope or any Bishop or Cardinal has told the followers to attack anyone or kill them I do however bet that with just one google search you would get so many responses on Muslim hatred and killings over their religion and the Koran that your computer couldn't handle it .

Those people your so broken hearted over there in the Middle East are not the ones you should be worrying about. It's their victims . The ones the subjugate and terrorise all in the name of their religion. They don't care to talk about it, they do not care if your religion says it's wrong to believe in another way and they do not care if your gay ,straight, Bi or transgendered other then they Will KILL YOU if you do not convert or submit to their will. Sorry but if they are that intolerant then bombing them out of existence is the best thing we could be doing for all of mankind.

You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.
