The geographic concentration of much of President Obama's political support in a few large Blue States and urban areas means that he could be defeated for re-election this November even while winning the popular vote.  What few seem to have seriously considered so far is how daunting the present shape of the political battlefield actually is for the President on a state-by-state level, and what that means when it comes to using national tracking polls as a metric to guess who would win a Presidential election held on any given day.  If you look closely enough at the numbers, it becomes clear that it is both mathematically and practically possible for the right Republican candidate to assemble a majority in the Electoral College while losing the popular vote by as much as 5%.

If that happens, liberal havens might burn in anger.  Expect a repeat of Florida 2000 in any state where voting was close.

"God save the Queen Electoral College"...it's the only college left with any commonsense.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

This is why I'm not concerned about any popularity poll. Damn glad we're not a democracy, but a Constitutional Republic.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

There is some real validity to this, the way the EC works, it does you no good to win by more than a simple majority in any all-or-nothing state (Which most are).  If your support is heavily concentrated in a limited geographic area, no matter how heavily populated, you can end up sucking wind.

I would love to see the GOP get an EC victory just to watch the wailing, gnashing of teeth and rending of garments.

It would also serve as a stark warning to the inheretor of the Constitutional requirements of the office.

Good Lord, wouldn't that be a mandate to hang on these ass clowns.

And this would be bad why?  Many of their inhabitants will surely burn in hell eventually, where is the problem starting the roast early? :fuelfire:

The downside, is that goat leggings are almost as heavily on back order as Skittles-shitting unicorn deliveries.  Many of us may not be properly attired do dance around the urban Dhimmi'Rat hellhole revel fires if the festivities kick off early. :-)

That is what I have been preaching. The red states that Obama won the last time will turn back red. You don't have that many dead people and fraud in those states so who gives a hoot if that happen in IL, NY, CA. Obummer is going to win those states by sizeable margins. The Democraps have been trying to change the election from the Electoral college to the total vote count. The electoral college favors Repubs; that is why Obama is going to get his ass kicked in Nov.

More than 1/3 of the states Obama won in 2008, he won with less than 200,000 votes (including Hawaii and Florida if you bump that 200k number up by 5,000).

I wonder how they feel now after three years of high prices, high unemployment, and high taxes.

They are too blissfully ignorant to understand that.
