Assuming there's much of a country to lead after Obumbles leaves office.

Also, state who you think the Dems might field then as well.

If Obama wins in 2012. we may not have elections to contest.

And if they do, Obama will have so corrupted the system, that there will never be a fair election again.

Christie has some good points, but he reminds me a lot of the personality of Newt Gingrich--the smartest man in the room, and by God he's gonna let you know it.  Not gonna play well with a lot of folks.

On the one hand you have the "establishment" candidates who the national is going to push; the milquetoasts, the RINO's, the "mushy middle" candidate the GOP thinks we need to win over independents.  How soon they forget Reagan.

On the other hand, a lot of the Tea Party types simply don't have the national exposure or, in the case of folks like O'Donnell or Angle, just put their foot in their mouths too often to be considered a serious candidate.

So what's left?  Someone who can be backed by the national, yet still appeal to the conservative base while at the same time not drive the mushy middle running for the hills?  Who does that give us?

Here's a couple of ideas, in no particular order:

Senator Jim DeMint
Governor Mitch Daniels
Governor Bobby Jindal
Senator Marco Rubio
Senator John Thune

Now for the Democrats.

Hillary, despite her insistence she'll never run for public office again, MIGHT do so in 2016, but the age factor (she'll be 69 then) will torpedo her career.
Andrew Cuomo--depends on how many people he drives out of NY state with his tax policies.  A more moderate Dem could make that an issue, particularly if deficits and spending at the federal level continue at present rates.
Tim Kaine--A dark horse, but his tenure at the DNC will forever be marked by the results of the 2010 midterms, although he can't really be held responsible for that.
Mark Warner--Still not sure why he didn't run in 2008, but could actually be a serious contender if he decides to put together a run.

John Edwards should run again. Maybe this time the owebumaManiaMedia will vett him thoroughly.

What a minute here, are you trying to infer Biden wouldn't have a chance?

It's entirely possible he could run--some have mentioned it, but if Hillary is "too old" at 69, Mister Gaffe Machine would be WAY too old at 75.

Frankly, it's probably the fact that nobody takes Paul seriously that his age (76) hasn't been an issue.  Although God knows, he's got enough other stuff to criticize/ridicule.

And for those concerned, NO, I would NOT consider Rand Paul--too close to his father ideologically, and he can't hide that over the course of an 18-24 month run-up and campaign.

Oh, I'll think he'll be quite comfy. He'll have his own digs, own setup. Sorta like what happened to Martha Stewart.

Well, of the options presented, I don't think Sarah would run -- she's having too much fun being the torchbearer and Trig won't be that much older.

Jindal? Nope, he kinda fell off the radar screen with this election runup and it's my impression he's perfectly fine with that.

I think DeMint's a real possibility. And, for those who think highly of Rubio, he'll have become infected with the D.C. virus by then, therefore I think he'd throw his hat in the ring too.

That's my problem with these professional politicians. They become infected with the very thing they were sent to D.C. to combat. And their overriding, Number One priority is to get reelected. Why and how these people are allowed to remain in office as a senator (Hillary, Obama, McLame) while still running for president baffles the shit out of me -- at least Edwards had the sense to bail out, but I suppose he bailed because he knew that the shitstorm with his wife was ready to blow and he wouldn't be reelected anyway....

John Edwards was a very successful professional fraud in nearly all aspects of his life. The libs knew it and lionized him for it. It took some objective reporting on several fronts for conservatives to prove what they long suspected.

If Obama wins in Nov, we should all run for the hills or go Galt cause this country will not be fit to live in.

If that over-rated know-nothing wins a second term, I'm just going to disengage and hope there are enough pieces of wreckage left to make something useful when the inevitable happens.

are 6-7 amendments in the bill of rights going to be enough leftovers to move on?

I don't think even that many of them will survive long-term, the way it's trending.  About half the First, and most of the Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth will likely be around until the end, the rest not so much.

I predict massive, simultaneous, violent riots in all major cities will "spontaneously" erupt and "force" comrade downgrade to enact martial law.

I picked the default (Teh Joooos!) option, because in all seriousness, I really don't think Obama will win this November.  Who do I think will get the nod?  I'm holding out for a brokered convention, and Jeb Bush getting the nod.  I think that Andy Cuomo will get the 2016 Dem nomination, no matter what happens this November.  If the Republican nominee this November can turn things around, Andy will be narrowly defeated.  If, for some alternate-univderse reason, Obama wins this November, Andy Cuomo will be buried in a landslide that will be the biggest ass-kicking since WWII.

I've been concerned about that since before day #1.

Concur with Cuomo getting the Dem nod in 2016.  Looks like all he's been doing is positioning himself for that.
