I love the outlet mall at San Marcos
« on: February 19, 2012, 11:33:47 AM »
Went there AGAIN yesterday with my husband. We got this:

And these (6 insulated glass tumblers):

I also got some kitchen towels and a set of cool bowls for my mother-in-law "just because".

I got all the above at the Pottery Barn/Williams Sonoma/West Elm outlet.

We saw an awesome shelving unit at Restoration Hardware that we were going to get but were afraid it would be too tall for our bedroom. We went home and measured it and it will fit. My husband went shooting with some guys at work and he "might" swing by and pick it up. It was 60% off PLUS an extra $25 off for every $100 spent.

Great score!!!!

We have an outlet mall about 5 mins from our house but it's not as big as San Marcos. They do have some neat stores though!
I can see November 2 from my house!!!

Forget change, bring back common sense.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Here is the shelving that I want. I bet it will be gone when he gets there.

Here are the cool bowls I got my mother-in-law.

The bottom of the bowls have a rubber ring on them to keep them from moving.

Here are the bar towels. Not very exciting but I like white towels so I can bleach them.

A stacking pour bowl. Why didn't I think of that ?

Look what my husband picked up on the way home from going shooting...

It doesn't look so oddly skinny in real life.

It came with an extra shelf. It must have come from another one that got jacked up more than this one. I think I like it without the extra one, it looks unbalanced with the extra one (shown in the picture).  I think I'm going to put it on the opposite wall, it's a short wall.

Don't ya just dig the picture to the left of the shelf?  My father-in-law gave it to me as I have always said that I loved it. It's an original that he brought in the 70's.

I wasn't going to be the first to say it, but I'll be the first to second it. It is missing something. I can't get the song "Brown Eyed Girl" -Van Morrison-. A nice framed hanging of the lyrics in an auspicious spot ?

It's probably missing something because I haven't hung all of my crap on the walls yet (or painted, it's "builder's beige" still).

BEG, where did you get the large letters hanging on your wall? I have 3 letters on our wall, the large one for our last name and SR's and my intials. Got them at Restoration Hardware before they closed their Sarasota store. I keep getting their emails, but hate to pay the shipping.

In May we'll be here for 2 years and still haven't been to the large outlet mall in Ellenton, not too far from here, maybe 20 or so miles.

Today we went to Costco in Ft Myers and got some stuff, mainly dog food for the dogs (kibble, cans and large box of biscuits).

On the way back stopped at a crazy little Florida roadside tourist trap called the Shell Factory. I bought a couple little shells and SR found a little shot glass that has his name on it. It says __'s bar. It's actually kind of cute. I also got a night light made with a sort of unusual shell for only $7.99. They were charging $6 for the shell, so thought the night light was a steal.

Mason jars have a simple elegance to them and they have so many uses!! You can dress them up or just show them as is....

I am going to get a couple and do that idea you have with silk flowers, and and do one with  seashells!!!! hmmmmmmm.
Going to Michaels!!

At a department store called Dillard's several years ago. I got them really cheap after Christmas.

The Restoration Hardware outlet has all different size letters. I almost got some the last time I was there.

I got the next to smallest size for the 2 little grandkids, both with the first initial "L". I got one of the larger sizes for our last name initial.

We have a Dillards here in Sarasota, but it only has clothes and cosmetics. When I first moved here, I headed to the Dillards because I had a housewarming Dillards gift certificate. I was really ticked off when I had to drive to the Tampa area to use it.

Dillards in St Louis had such a good linens and home decor area with some super savings. But it's too far to drive to Tampa all the time to visit a Dillards. At least some time in 2012 we're getting a Costco here and a Trader Joe's.

How's the shopping in Austin? Do you end up going to Dallas to shop?
