After reading alot of the replies to other threads about laptop dad, I decided to do something. I showed the video to my two teenage girls (15, 17) with no preamble and then asked them what they thought afterwards. We live in the same state as laptop dad, NC..(I'll leave out the boring story)

Basically the daughter agrees.  But who comes along to add her expert parenting advice.

What that father did was wrong in about 10 different ways. That your daughter doesn't recognize any of them makes her a teenager. That you don't is a different matter.

That father is teaching his daughter that you solve relational problems with drama, even with violence and shaming. That will be great for her later, won't it?

I've been following that whole saga over there from the start. I'm convinced the Loony Brigade is only upset because Dad used an Eebul Gun to destroy the laptop. If he had ran over it with his car or taken a ball peen hammer to it they wouldn't have shit to say. And if the father had been a moonbat and destroyed it because he found the kid posting on a conservative web site, they'd have all been cheering him.

Oh, and they're proclaiming the shooting of the laptop as "violence". Isn't this the same group who vehemently denied that the property damage during the G12 riots was not violence because it wasn't directed towards people?

Liz has been a swirling maelstrom of stupidity throughout the whole affair, as usual.

I pretty much grew up fearing my Dad, he didn't take any crap, I grew up normal, I respected my Parents and respected my elders. God forbid we have a generation of kids growing up the same way. ::)

But, but, one of poor, stupid Beth's sons, during one of his stretches in the slammer for selling dope, helped the warden "organize the prisoners".

At least that was a claim made by his poor, stupid, but proud mother.

I suspect that his talent for organization came at least partly from the guidance he got from poor, stupid Beth.

In addition to the Top DUmmy competition, poor, stupid Beth is in the running for the California Department of Corrections Mother of the Year.

No shit!!! It took me until I was like 25 to not cringe and look for a place to hide when I heard the jingle of a belt. My parents were deadly with a belt. That and high heeled shoes. Mom could nail you at 15-20 feet with one of her shoes. Them things hurt like hell. Then you had to pick the thing up and bring it back to her or she'd nail ya with the other one.   Then you'd get the beatin from Dad for pissing her off!!!

My folks weren't much into hitting us, but when we "got it," it was memorable.  In fact, in a lot of ways, I'd have preferred an occasional spanking over my Mom's method of correction.  I tell stories about some of the spankings I got, and laugh about them.  They hurt for a while, then went away.  However, when Mom got mad, she'd throw words at you, and some of those words still pop up on bad days, and they still hurt just as bad as the day she threw them.

Actually, according to his fb page, laptop dad had both the police and CPS called on him because of the video. He says that the police congratulated him, and CPS found nothing at all wrong with the home.

Same here, and MY son (he's now 30) told me he got chills down his back when he heard my belt buckle rattle.

My Dad would use whatever he could that was handy; tree branch, hose, fan belt, HIS belt, whatever.  IN the house, he had an old barbershop razor strap:  3 foot long, 4 inches wide, at least a 1/4 inch thick piece of leather, complete with a handle on one end!  He kept it hanging on the wall beside the kitchen door.

When he reached for the strap, THAT'S when the begging and pleading started from the guilty party, and he then knew which one of us 3 to swing it at!   :lmao:

Marv, for the life of me I have never understood that old saying.  Words destroy more then a broken arm or leg. Wondering what deluded person ever came up with that horrid saying.  Then why 2-3 generations believed that saying without thought.

This saying has destroyed lives, carears, and the potential for millions of the guilty and innocent.   This saying is perhaps the most Evil of all the old time sayings.

DAMN! Did we have the same daddy?... :rotf:..and add a grass rope...plow lines harness....whatever... :-)

Once I knocked the parts book for a bulldozer into a bucket of fuel that daddy had been washing parts in, he threw an adjustable wrench at me for doing that...I ducked the wrench and it took out 4 panes of glass in the window in the back of the shop...so I got 2 whippings...one for the parts book and one for causing him to break the window out.

...and then there was the time.... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:...maybe later.

In my house you better not let mom break one on your butt. If it broke you had to go out and get another one. Then you would get spanked for what you did and for getting a sub par switch. :rotf:
