Take a step back and observe . . . . .

. . . . . . how very, very sad is the 2012 edition of the repubican slate of presidential hopefuls.

Before things really got started, there was the Clown Of The Week Game, a twisted repubican version of Whack-A-Mole. Up and quickly down were the real clowns like Perry, Bachman, and Cain. The painfully ordinary John Huntsman was just too normal for the rabid Base.

Ron Paul is a special case. His space ship is on a 90 minute orbit so, mercifully, we only have to experience him in very limited spurts.

After the race started, and Mitt wasn't quite "It", Lizard Gringrich popped up and was popular. Then not so much. How long since you've even heard the name Callista?

Soon enough, Mitt was back. Then not so much.

Now it is Foamy SmegmaMan.

Really?

Rick Sanatorium? The guy that the underwhelming personality of Bob Casey beat by . . . . what? . . . . fifteen points?

Face it Freddie, the repubicans hate every choice they have. I still think Dog On Car will beat out Man on Dog, but Man Oh Man, it sure is a hoot to watch when "Someone Else" is the favorite amongst the knuckle dragging cognoscenti.

Not being up on things Italianate, I had to nadin "cognoscenti."

You know, the republican slate of candidates may be pretty dismal but at least it's  leaps and bounds better than what the democrats are offering.

I've kind of been on the fence most of the time, especially after some of my preferred candidates eliminated themselves, but after seeing the reactions of DUmmies and hearing about a "google problem", I've made my choice.  I'm now for Santorum.  As a family values kind of leader, you cannot buy the kind of advertising that his depraved detractors are giving him.  What better way to show what we're up against than the website that shows up on page 1 when you search his name?  The funny thing is that liberals think that they are hurting him when they promote garbage like that.

Shellacking.

This is the only bit of information that is needed to predict whether or not the Obamessiah finishes ****ing this country up beyond repair:

If the price of a gallon of gasoline is over, say, $4.50 a gallon on Election Day, Obama gets buried in a landslide.  If it's closer to $5.00 a gallon, not only does Obama lose in a landslide, but the Republicans probably get a fillibuster-proof Senate as well.

I agree, the DUmmies will howl like mad when gas hits $4 but still won't see it as the "O's" fault.

Gas is already at or close to $3.50 here and I have heard that its around $4.00 in other areas. That and the unemployment rate usually guarantees that the incumbent won't get a second term. Just ask Jimmy the Peanut.

Actually it is not uncommon for severe trauma victims to not remember anything about the event that caused the trauma.

This is related to short term memory conversion to long term memory. As I recall, a short term memory requires at least 20 seconds to transfer in to long term memory. It is the principle explanation why fighters re awakening from a knockout will be known to ask "what happened" ? Interestingly this phenomenon often gives insight as to the relative inexperience of a fighter. The more experienced ones still don't know what happened after they re awaken, but they know that if they are wondering what happened, they can conclude they were knocked out, so they don't bother.

Is it just me or does it seem that the DUmbasses are more exercised about there being no clear frontrunner than Republicans are? I think it's because they haven't had delivered to them a stationary target upon whom to vent all their hate. All this Keep Them Guessing stuff is burning out what's left of their simple little minds.

I dunno why the primitives think having no front-runner at this stage is a weakness.

It's February, after all, and the main primaries haven't even gotten underway.

Where is it written that there must be a front-runner this early?

How often has it been that the Democrats had a clear front-runner this early?

(The answer: in cases not involving an incumbent Democrat president, never--and many times not even those.)

One wishes for the days when the nominees weren't determined until the national conventions were held, and then the presidential campaign finally got underway during the Labor Day weekend in September.

I'm trying to recall instances where there was a clear-cut front-runner in a presidential race this early.

All I can come up with is George Bush in 2004, William Clinton in 1996, Ronald Reagan in 1984, Richard Nixon in 1972, Lyndon Johnson in 1964.

These were all incumbent presidents.

But even incumbency was no guarantee the whole thing was wrapped up this early; Jimmy Carter and Vast Teddy in 1980, for example, where the incumbent barely got re-nominated.

I don't care if there's no Republican front-runner clear until the Republican convention; it makes the whole thing more exciting, and besides, being a late front-runner has historically been no obstacle to election.

Frankly, I prefer a late frontrunner -

It gives the primitives less time to work on a campaign of personal destruction, and forces them to spend more time money besmirching a field of candidates.

Yes, that is an advantage.

The main thing that bothers me--and I'm sure it bothers Ballygrl too, based upon her comments, but I don't want to speak for her--about the current Republican race is the way all the candidates are beating up on each other.

If I were chairman of the National Republican Committee, I'd call all the Republican candidates in for a pow-wow--"Hey guys, quit beating up on each other and beat up on the Magic One instead.

"And the one who does the best job of beating up on the Magic One is probably going to get the nomination--without creating any inner-party bad will and hurt feelings."

Damn.
