Well it would be quite the different story if the MSM had the guts to talk about the morning after ABORTION drug that is also mandated for coverage in the ruling.  But I guess you already knew that ... you POS.  I wonder how many Catholics, let alone Americans in general, who are in favor of that?

It would also force Catholic Instiutions to perform abortions, sterilization etc. and those services to be provided by insurance if you're employed by a Catholic organization. Birth Control is a red herring in this issue, it's not only about birth control, it's about so much more, it's about Catholic organizations being told to put their beliefs aside. Women's rights or whatever they want to call it doesn't trump Religious rights. When Axelrod goes around saying they're going to rethink this issue then you know the backlash is great. Catholics are 70 million strong, and while you'll get the usual few who have the audacity to think Church Doctrine needs to change to fit with their personal agenda, the majority of us won't sit still and watch our Church and our beliefs come under attack. You think the Tea Party was a force to be reckoned with? you ain't seen nothing yet, we'll be joined by Christians, Jews and even Muslims on this issue, they know that if the Government comes for us it'll only be a matter of time before the Government comes for them.

I'm telling you, as a young(ish) person myself (31 yrs old) this is one of those 'last of a dying breed' issues that is a throwback to a time when women wore poodle skirts and dancing too close was considered risque. Back to a time when the faster the drumbeat the closer to Satan. Under 2 decades until petty non-sensical prude issues like this go away for good. No one cares about this non-issue anymore.

After 50,000,000 abortions, a 50% divorce rate, an overall illegitimacy rate of 36.8% (69.5% for blacks), the mainstreaming of all manner of sexual perversions, rampant government corruption and 7.2 million Americans either in prison, on probation, or on parole, don't you think maybe, just maybe a little prudery might be in order? The liberalization of the last forty years has been an unmitigated disaster for this society. There is no right or wrong anymore, it is all "nuance". No personal responsibility. No standards but those which you make up for yourself. Shame, which used to be a useful tool for controlling our baser instincts, is now a disease to be eradicated.

This is what conservatives are trying to put the brakes on, while you liberals sneer and mock us for "wanting to go back to a Leave It To Beaver world that never existed". Meanwhile, liberals are like a batshit crazy lunatic at the wheel, laughing maniacally with the accelerator to the floorboard and the car headed toward an abutment, looking for more of the same in order to create your perfect world.

I like how the DUmmies and the MSM are all touting the whole "Most Catholic's use birth control, so the government needs to force the church to change their stance" line. I couldn't give a rat's ass how many Catholic's use BC.  The Government can get the hell out of my church. They have NO say in how my church believes. My ancestors fought for that right and won. People break all kinds of rules, that doesn't make it "right" or mean we should change the rules or do away with them. Everyone speeds, does that mean we should do away with speed limits?  ::)

Last I checked, no one is forced into being Catholic or following the Catechism. Don't like the rules? Don't become Catholic. Don't work for a Catholic school or hospital. No one is forcing them to work there. I hate abortion and see it as murder. There isn't enough money or benefits in the world that would tempt me to accept a job at Planned Parenthood.

You'd better believe it.

An interesting demographic characteristic of Skins's island--I dunno if it holds true for other Hate-sites, though--is the number of lapsed Catholics among the primitives.  There's a lot of lapsed Catholics all over, but on Skins's island, they're represented w-a-a-a-a-y out of proportion when compared with the general population.

And the primitives who appear to be the most loathesome, the most abominable, the most detested, by decent and civilized people here are.....you guessed it, lapsed Catholics.  The list of winning top primitives every year, since 2005, has been heavily dominated by primitives who are lapsed Catholics.

There appears to be something especially repellent about them, that even those members of religions not Catholic, or those with no religion, pick up on.  Even if religion is NOT the topic the primitive brings up, these members seem to be vomitously disgusted by them, more so than by other primitives.

Trust me; a lapsed Catholic is not an appealing sight, on matters both religious and secular.

Hitler was a lapsed Catholic, so you get the idea.

I was reading the comments on the online version of our local newspaper regarding this last night at work and had to quit I was getting so angry!!!!

These people are so f'n stupid with their so-called statistics! It doesn't matter if Catholic women use birth control or not! I did and I figured it was between me and God, and I was fairly certain He wanted me to use some responsibility with regard to my ability to bring a child into this world and to provide for it.

Like someone said, further up the thread, there are all sorts of birth control and the only fool proof one is abstinence! None of them are perfect. I have a 32 yo because I left the diaphragm in the drawer (  :thatsright: ) and a 5yo grandson because my daughter had taken antibiotics earlier in the month and her pills didn't work. However, we were both in situations where the world didn't come to an end because we were pregnant and abortions were not even consideration. Regardless, it was still OUR responsibility to obtain our birth control of choice and it was not covered on our health insurance. Not in the late 1970's nor in the mid 2000's.

Birth control can be obtained at Planned Parenthood and the local Public Health Clinic for free or for minimal costs. I know BC pills have risen in astronomical costs over the years, which I'm sure we can thank lawyers and insurance companies for the rise in costs, as with all pharmaceuticals. But there ARE options out there for those who can't afford them.

I do think it is unfair that Viagra and Cialis are covered by insurance and BC pills or other types of Rx birth control. That however, is another issue entirely.

All that being said, NO employer should be forced to have to provide health insurance with BC coverage, if it is against their religious beliefs. NOR should the government be the enforcer!!!!

Birth control is against the Catholic faith. It has been for centuries and it probably will be for the forseeable future. Don't like it, then don't follow the edict, and make it between the woman and God, NOT the woman and the United States Government!!!

I don't know how many Catholic women use birth control. I don't really care. Probably most of them in their child bearing years use some sort. For that matter, "rhythm" is a form of birth control, and some women have been very successful with it. I wasn't.

Catholic hospitals won't even allow vasectomies to be performed in the hospital, and removing any part of a woman's reproductive organs while she is in her "child-bearing years" needs to be well-documented for why it is being done. I was facing the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy, and one of the nuns came in to talk with me and to pray with me, prior to surgery because it would be taking a life. She wanted to make sure that I not only understood what was happening to me physically, but to prepare me emotionally. Thankfully, it turned out to be exploding cysts, but still resulted in the removal of the ovary and tube.

The Catholic Church is NOT trying to stop any employers from providing insurance to women that includes BC. What they are trying to do, is to STOP any Catholic employer from being FORCED by the US government, to provide BC provisions in their employees health insurance.

If an employee objects to that, then the employee is perfectly within their rights to go find a job somewhere else!!!

The Church objects to the government forcing the Faithful to go against their long held religious belief.

It ain't rocket science! I do not understand why people can't comprehend the real issues here.

The country was so much better off when real men could challenge each other to a duel. Either you put yourself behind your beliefs and went on to the field of battle or crawled way lie the coward you were.

Well, that would solve our liberal problem.

I didn't know that this "mandate" is not even in the Obamacare bill. It was an edict from HHS. I don't understand how this can be forced. It is not a law that was voted on by Congress. I know there are many regulations that aren't; but this one ticks me off. I am not Catholic, BTW; but if we let this stand, then what will they try to force religions to do next?

Dixierose, I had to amend my post after reading yours.  We have a HUGE problem in this country.  Congress has, over the years, abdicated so much power and discretion to the executive branch.  These agencies and departments seemingly can just run amok.  That's where the NHI goofy million dollars studies comes from.

This particular case is outrageous government overreach.  The progs can never help themselves.  I'm just glad we seem to be having a big national conversation about just what we'll allow our own government to do to us.

It's driving me crazy though, how everyone gets on TV and misquotes polls, etc.  Did anybody see Juan Williams just make stuff up out of thin air?

Saw this on AoS blog comments. It might just be the greatest, most concise description I've ever seen:

Quote
Progressives [say]: You must
1. Provide and pay for contraception.
2. Provide and pay for abortion.
3. Enact laws providing for same sex couples to get married.
4. Enact laws providing for same sex couples to adopt young children.
5. Enact laws taking end-of-life decisions away from families and giving them to the State.
6. Enact laws publicly funding instruction in the public schools in regards to homosexual lifestyles and practices.
7. Soon to enact laws restricting health benefits for those deemed "less-than".

...Social conservatives: Ah, no thanks.
Let nothing trouble you,
Let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience attains all that it strives for.
He who has God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

Another thing that makes me mad is the DUmmies saying our outrage is because we really want to do away with contraceptives. Does anyone really believe this beside the Primitives?

I've heard the Southern Baptists have already weighed in on this, definitely on the same side as the Catholic church.  This rule tells every Christian business, business owner, and Christian individual that they MUST help pay to murder children.  A huge number of Christian health care workers work in Catholic hospitals specifically because we won't be forced to provide or assist abortion in any way.  Obama and Sebellius need to be reined in, and reined in hard, on this gross infringement of rights.  Not only do they stomp all over the religious right, they are also stomping on our right to refuse to be a party to murder.

Catholics are the biggest targets, with 70 million members.......they forget that combined with evangelicals and the remainder of the Christian denominations, we comprise nearly 70% of the US population......enough to ensure that a "progressive" never gets elected to national office in a generation.......they do this at their own peril......

I'm starting to wonder if The One is throwing himself under the bus, in a 'suicide via cop' sort of way -

Well, Spirit Daily, a Catholic website that's similar to Matt Drudge's site, links both to articles that say that Obama backed down (MSNBC does this, too), and to a statement by Archbishop Dolan, to he effect of, "We're not believing this."

My thinking is that he'll lose a sizable porion of the Catholic vote--and a lot of Evangelicals, Jews, Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, etc., will follow.  Enough to offset moonbats?  More than enough.
