Blue Bell Ice Cream
« on: February 08, 2012, 08:15:16 PM »
I just had some strawberry Blue Bell ice cream, it is the absolute best ice cream. I missed it so when I was living in hell (Ca).

That is all.

I don't think I've seen that brand here, but we do have Blue Bunny ice cream.

I think I tried Blue Bell ice cream one or twice (chocolate, naturally).  I just didn't care for it.  Too thick and creamy.  There was more butter-fat taste than chocolate.

Did not like.

If you can't get chocolate right, you shouldn't be making ice cream.

I can't remember the last time I bought ice cream.  I couldn't tell you one brand from another. :(

I don't like Blue Bell because it is too sweet, sugary, and not as flavory as other ice creams.  But, hey.  I eat ice cream maybe once a year.  I really don't like sweets.

Not a big ice cream guy during the winter.

Summer, OTOH--and I prefer to go to the local places that make their own.  Lago's Lone Oak (yes, THAT Lago, for those of you familiar with the Winter Olympics) makes some killer ice cream.

They have Blue Bell ice cream here. I always try to get it when it's on sale at Publix. It's really, really good.

Yep, though it's extremely expensive.

Ice cream is my #1 nemesis. I can't say no. I'm a vanilla and nuts guy, but I ain't too picky. Ben & Jerry, on the other hand, put too much other shit in their ice cream. When I want ice cream, I want ICE CREAM. Not chocolate brownies and the kitchen sink, for God's sake. Nuts are good, though.

Haagen Daz is another good one, but I don't know anything about their #5 series.

Shit. Now I'm gonna be drooling all frickin' day thinking about ice cream.

Thanks, BEG.  :p

Their 5 series has only 5 ingredients.   So, the Vanilla has Milk, Cream, Vanilla, Sugar and Eggs.  The end.

They are as close to homemade as I can find.  Homemade is my favorite.

May be local to the MS area, but a Borden's regular vanilla is the best ice cream memory I have from my childhood.
