Missouri Primary (Anecdotal Observations)

Today is Missouri's "Presidential Primary", which is interestingly not really a primary at all (delegates to the convention will be selected by caucus on March 17).  It is therefore really a "straw vote", although the party leaders advise that the results will weigh heavily on caucus delegate selection.

The Mrs. and I voted at about 2:30 PM CST, and when the judges were asked about the turnout so far........bear in mind that there were several local tax issues and local officials on the ballot.......I was shown the ballot books for our precinct (there are 100 ballots per "book").......there were eighteen empty books for the Republican party, and they were still working on the first Democrat book.......

Looks like the "broken glass" Republicans are out in force, at least in our precinct.

I voted on the way to work, well after 0700.  Since one of the poll workers had voted, I was the second voter.  There weren't any other ballot issues in my county, nobody else on site but the poll workers the whole time.

Are you getting much feedback from the local channels on who's leading? Amazing that Gingrich isn't on the ballot. That should help Santorum.

A bit of a blowout for Santorum:

Santorum - 55%
Romney - 25%
Paul - 12%

That should speak volumes to Romney -- that is, if the liar is listening.

I expected Missouri to go for Santorum, and probably Minnesota. What's really going to give Romney the jibblies is losing colorado. Up until last night, it looked like he was going to win it with Santorum second. I'd like to see what happens in Maine now after this.


Oh, and as of last night, Santorum has won more states than Romney.

I'm so proud of Missouri for the huge margins for Santorum. They've always had more sense than Florida.

Missouri shows what will happen in any other primaries where the conservative vote isn't so divided between multiple candidates. That's the only way Romney has been able to win.

Tonight's results have done one thing...they have made me look at Santorum again. I didn't think he had a prayer, so I haven't paid much attention to him to be perfectly honest. Because of his good showing tonight, I will definitely pay closer attention to him.
