The old DUmp has become so quiet you can hear the distinctive tinkle of straitjacket buckles.

The snarling and snapping of the inmates has faded to a soft murmur.

Were it not for the brain-damaged idiot and the elephant guy, there would be no more than two or three threads a day.

So it was surprising to have a worthless unterprimitiven pop up with what may be the final good bouncy fantasy in DUtwo history:

Why I will shop only at Wal-Mart from now on
I've been trying to support a local chain of supermarkets, but I've reached the end of my rope.

In the past, I've had problems with them, and stopped going there for a while. Namely, they would leave food in their freezers and sell it after prolonged power outages, and I got sick from said food...their carry-outs wouldn't pay attention where they were going, and would hit people with carts...the toilets were filthy and smelly...the list goes on.

Finally, I wrote to the head of the company (which is located in a larger city). He sent me a letter and went into great detail about having talked to the store's manager--whom I'll call Baldy--about these problems, and he sent me a $20 gift card. So, stupidly, we started shopping there again.

Yesterday, we're at the magazine rack, minding our own business, when this woman shoved her way around my aging, handicapped mother and C0UGHED a horrible wet cough right on her. I could see droplets on Mom's coat, it was that bad.

We got away as fast as we could, and we were complaining about what had just happened. Near the checkouts, this crazy bitch starts literally getting in my face, pointing her finger at me, and hitting me in the ear with her finger, while screaming and making copious use of the F-word.

We continued to move away, and I started shouting, "Leave us alone!" repeatedly, so that witnesses would know that we weren't trying to contribute to any sort of altercation. Though, admittedly, the body language should have been enough--we're moving away, she's screaming at me and pounding my head with her finger.

Finally, I hurried to the checkout, where two store higher-ups and a checker were working, and asked for help. The higher-ups walked away, and the checker smirked and said nothing.

So we left our grocery cart, and I went to the courtesy desk to ask to speak to the manager. After a considerable wait, the manager came, accompanied by the store manager (Baldy) who's the authority over all of the lower managers.

Before I had even finished explaining what had happened, Baldy starts saying that they can't get involved, and I "provoked" the incident (by running away?!?). I told him it wouldn't matter if I had--when someone is yelling the F-bomb and getting physical, an employee or two needs to intervene, esp. when someone asks for help. But he just kept going on and on, covering up for his employees' lack of action.

I even said, what if I had called the police instead, and brought negative publicity to the store. He said he wouldn't have cared!

Even though this is obviously the most extreme case, it illustrates what I've face at all locally-owned stores: The attitude of, "**** you, we don't have to serve you--if you don't like it, leave."

Well, you know what? I am leaving. I'm going to Wal-Mart. Contrary to popular belief, I've found that you can get Made in USA stuff from them. And on the rare occasions that their employees are jerks, there is the guarantee that there's always someone higher up who will take complaints seriously.

These local yokels don't pay their employees any better than Wal-Mart, and they offer employees no benefits whatsoever. (Maybe that's why their employees have such attitude problems.)

But this experience was the final straw for me. I want to shop where there are security cameras and personnel to keep me safe. I want to shop where I'm treated with respect. I want to shop where I can do my shopping, come home, and not feel as if I'm about to have a nervous breakdown.

I'm shopping at Wal-Mart. Because I've tried to support local businesses, but NONE of them appreciate it. I know when to admit defeat...the soreness I feel today from being poked repeatedly while running when I'm out of shape (I have fibromyalgia) is the ultimate wake-up call. I now see what the real problem is.

Wal-Mart isn't the enemy. The local yokels who drive people to shop at Wal-Mart are the enemies.

Thanks for listening.

As always, the DUmpmonkey is the innocent victim of an ignorant, abusive idiot.

Unlike the standard bouncy script, in this one the DUmmy is a slow-thinking dolt who doesn't strike back with a brilliant rejoinder.

Disappointingly, neither the coughing crazy lady nor the bald rude manager were wearing their "W - '04" buttons.

Luckily for the unterprimitiven OP, DUtwo is deserted except for a tiny handful of troglodytes, so he's unlikely to be tombstoned for admitting to shopping at Walmart.

As per usual, the two or three DUmmies left at the old DUmp swallow this improbable tale hook, line, and sinker.

1. I haven't shopped in a Walmart store for 18 years and you couldn't pay me to shop at one.
Not only do they hate Unions, pay their workers slave wages while they swim in BILLIONS of $$$$$$$$ of profit, treat their workers like slaves and destroy mom and pop stores...they sell JUNK.

The last time I shopped Walmart was when my 18 year old son was a baby. I had purchased a cute little denim romper there. I threw it in the wash and it came out literally shredded to pieces. Junk. They sell junk Made in China.

You could shop online if you don't like your local stores, but Walmart? YUK.

3. Yesterday Miz O's car died at the library. Some nice young people
got it started for her, went with her to the local auto parts store where they tested the alternator, and said that the battery was low.

When she got home, we took it to our local WalMart, where we had bought the battery 18 months ago. The attendant put his tester on it, out came a print-out that said the battery had failed to meet required standards. The guy's very next words were "This battery is probably still under warranty."

About a half hour later we left, with the WM crew having put in a new battery. No money exchanged hands, they were all cheerful.

I just typed this on a laptop probably made by exploited labor, and it will be read on screens probably made by exploited labor, and the thread will be filled with responses about how WalMart exploits labor.

Imagine that!

6. As if there ever was a computer with all components manufactured in the USA.
Don't insult the intelligence of everyone reading this by resorting to the old "You're just as bad!" diversion tactic. It's transparent and unbecoming.

If there were an all-American computer, I'd be first in line to own one. But there's not, and you know it.

That's your cue to scold me for being such a hypocrite. After all, if I really held fast to my principles, I wouldn't have a computer at all, right?

You can thank me later for saving you the trouble of posting that as your next reply.

8. Thank you for saving me the trouble of posting that as my next reply. But
it is interesting reading the typed screeds of how bad company A is, while typing those screeds on products made by by company B - both using similar practices.

Similar arguments crop up with "we must drive union labor made in the USA automobiles." It looks good on the screen, but in reality we drive what appeals to us or what our budget will allow.

And thanks to DUmmy librtbell for probably the last DUtwo bouncy.

It was hare-brained and an obvious fabrication, but it was nice to see someone try to entertain the last little handful of hardened losers in old DUmmydom.

Good one.

Whenever I go over to the old Skins's island, now in its abandonment thicker than ever with foliage choking out the few remaining hold-out reactionary primitives who can't deal with change, usually all I ever see are the brain-damaged primitive and the elephantine primitive, maybe once in a while the KoKo primitive.

The whole old island looks as if it's about ready, at long last, to sink into the ocean.

This person and his/her mom were hanging out at a supermarket magazine rack and some demented maniac intentionally coughed in it's mothers face and then chased  them around the store, shouting obscenities and providing finger pokes to the head.  Sounds like the kind of thing that would happen to Ignatius J. Reilly in the novel A Confederacy of Dunces.

I wonder what the demented maniac's DUmp name is?  Sounds like any of the OWS crowd.

Could this be evidence of a rare "reverse bouncy", in which the DUmmie is the one being berated and besieged, instead of doing the berating and besieging?

Not so fast here, there are nuts out there, bully's and shysters, a genuine shock to run into them.

How one handles them is up for grabs.

Example --you pay $150.00 for seats at a event.  The person next  to you is so huge they are taking up half your small seat.  You paid good money for your seat but find you cannot use the full seat.  Now what do you do??

Good way to start a fist fight if you keep pushing for the full seat, if male and the next seat person is female, they may have you arrested for personal sexual unwanted contact.

Flying across country is much joy if your seat mate weighs 300 pounds and has half your seat ,smells like a male goat and accidentally places their hand on your leg from time to time.

Oh shopping another good time to consider what to do.  I have seen people take things out of others carts as they, I assume do not want to walk to that isle on the other end of the store.  Here you have in your cart the last of the items on sale, as you turn to grab another item you see out of the corner of your eye hands in your cart grabbing your item.   What to do, do you yell and chase down the customer that has your item now in their cart????

Possession is 9/10 of the law. cannot have a person arrested for stealing your goods if you have not paid for it yet.

What to do when faced with these bully one does not expect.     In the first place we do not expect to be faced with these people unless they are a fact of life in ones social community.

What would you do if you were a woman with 2 kids waiting in line at the grocery store check out and some Biker Chick with 15 cases of beer, full sleeves of tattoos and 15 face piercings, slams into your cart to get ahead of you in line???      What would you do if you are a man and this happend????

Face it the Bully's have the upper hand and they know it.   Some of these bouncy have a ring of truth in them, some where at some time the story's have happend to Someone in the world.

Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”
