It's entirely possible I missed mention of this travesty (as virtually ALL joint resolutions of Congress are political travesties as they have little to no actual teeth), so I'll mention it here.

This is how f'ed up the shit is getting.

The Senate rejected this House resolution to block a $1.2 trillion increase in the $15.2 trillion debt ceiling. The increase automatically took effect on January 27, 2012. The vote was 44 Nay 52 Yea.

So now, if I'm understand this BS properly, Congress can't even bring itself to vote on whether or not to saddle the nation with more debt - and while you can argue that merely raising the debt ceiling doesn't mean the debt will be increased, but please forgive me while I spit on that argument because Congress can't help but write checks when there's money to be spent - so it has to resort to "automatic" increases.

AYFKM? Is this truly the shape of things as they are?

I can understand Dingy Harry orchestrating the Nay vote - it's what he's all about when it comes to spending money. Rein in the House because the House is trying to be responsible.

But an AUTOMATIC DEBT INCREASE CEILING?!? Effective this past Friday?!?

yes when they passed the limit increase last year and obummer wanted the increase to cover until after elections, they did it in installments. the first one was the one the super committee was supposed to come up with a payment plan for, and if they couldnt... required sequestration, which is what we got.

the next installment was to be put up to a vote "TO STOP" the increase. basically the house and senate would have to vote stop the increase, and then obama would have to sign it. if either house failed to vote for the "STOPPAGE" or obama veto'd it, the increase happens by default.

this is what you get when McConnell is minority leader. it was his idea. they thought they could pass one over the blind citizens. You see the house voted to stop the increase, they get to say they didnt want it to happen. the senate blocked the "STOPPAGE" they get to claim that they kept the govt from going bankrupt. Its WIN/WIN, for the politicians. We get ****ed though.

The US debt will be over $16,000,000,000,000 (trillion) by the end of the year. About 1/3 of that amount will have accrued under Resident Obama.

More than likely, the intention. Collapse the system. Straight outta Compton Rules for Radicals. Question is, why does this not make him an enemy of the state? A person can't do any damn thing they want just because he's President and, last I checked, it looks like he completely ignored the House. They don't control the purse strings anymore? Does Congress even matter to this jackass? NM, rhetorical.

This one will tear at your heartstrings:

ADDED ALMOST A TRILLION DOLLARS - The total debt of the US government as of 12/31/11 was $15.2 trillion, comprised of $10.4 trillion
of “debt held by the public” and another $4.8 trillion of “intergovernmental debt.” At the time of the August 2011 Congressional debate
over increasing (or not increasing) the nation’s debt ceiling, the statutory limit was $14.3 trillion (source: Treasury Department).

Now remember when Obummer complained when Bush had a $500 billion defecit, calling it a giant lack of leadership.  Seems he has spent twice as much in half the time and the mainstream media would call it progress.  :argh: :censored:
