How To Diffuse The "Class Warfare" Talking Point With Your Repug Friends......
The latest Repug talking point against President Obama and the Dems is that they are engaging in "class warfare". I have a Repug friend that tried to use that argument on me. Here's what I did.

I asked him which class he thinks he's in. Then used the fact that 400 individuals in this country have more money than the bottom 150 million people. He backed down immediately.

Use this thread to list other ways of diffusing this bogus Repug talking point.

The problem with the global primitive's theory is that even in socialist paradises of the workers and peasants, the top 400 (or somesuch number) have more wealth (even if "state-owned," which is not exactly what it implies) than the bottom 99% combined.

Mao didn't live in a mud hut; Stalin didn't live in a thatched-roof cottage; Fidel doesn't live in a shack.

Why is that a problem?

If those 400 were suddenly impoverished, DUmp democrats would still be deadbeats, with not even one penny more than they have today.

Why the hell should I care what someone else makes. Only DUmmies think it's a big deal and that they have a right to something that doesn't belong to them. And they're just so damn stupid about it. As long as those filthy rich "400" spout the right words, opining that they don't pay more taxes they're just super! John Kerry is incredibly stingy, he's even parked his damn yacht in a different state to avoid taxes. None of them bother to ask why Warren Buffet's secretary pays more in taxes than he does and why he doesn't do anything to help her pay less. They don't question why someone who says he should pay more in taxes is fighting the IRS for an amount that's pretty much small change to him. They question none of the excesses of Nancy Pelosi, Al Gore's excessive use of energy in his larger-than-necessary house. They never question why some rich Hollywood has been shows up at OWS for a photo op and to be fawned over and then is never heard from again. They never ask why these rich liberals, if they really believe they should be paying more in taxes, just pay whatever percentage they think they should be paying even if there's no law forcing them to. It's not like the government is going to send back several million dollars. How stupid is that? They're so damned gullible. If this really did happen the friend probably walked away laughing and shaking his head.

I'm certain that the 'class warfare' statement by the primitive is true in socialist societies as well - HOWEVER, in the United States, it is possible for someone who isn't politically connected to become one of those 400 people.

And I agree with GOBUCKS, I have no problem with 400 rich people, or 400K or 4 million of them.  I do not covet.  I've been instructed not to. 

I hate the class warfare bullshit.  It's divided this country and made people hate each other.  This is not what we're about.  Is anybody else getting extremely rude, pointed questions about their own personal finances?  Maybe it's a regional thing here, but I was brought up to NEVER ask questions about money, even to your own parents.

Plus, classes do indeed still exist in Socialist nations, only they tend to be based less on how much wealth one has than on how well- connected one is to the government.
