Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul’s press secretary Moira Bagley tweeted on Monday that Transportation Security Administration officials were detaining her boss in Nashville, Tenn.  “Just got a call from @senrandpaul,” Bagley tweeted at about 10 a.m. on Monday. “He’s currently being detained by TSA in Nashville.”

Texas Congressman and current Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul – Sen. Rand Paul’s father – placed a post on Facebook about the news as well. “My son Rand is currently being detained by the TSA at the Nashville Airport,” Ron Paul posted. “I’ll share more details as the situation unfolds.”

Ron Paul adds, via Twitter, that the TSA detained his son “for refusing full body pat-down after anomaly in body scanner.”

Sen. Rand Paul’s Facebook page has a post about the incident too. “Senator Paul is being detained at the Nashville Airport by the TSA,” Sen. Rand Paul’s Facebook post reads. “We will update you as the situation develops.”

Kinda makes me wonder if TSA didn't set him up with that "anomaly."

Nah. They're collectively too stupid for that.

It sounds like the TSA did what they were trained to do.

It might be interesting though, if he tries spinning this a certain way... which he might successfully be able to pull off, although I doubt it.

My take on it is, I have no problem with the airlines wanting to protect their passengers and investment by requiring screenings, pat downs, and x-rays. A governmental agency doing it? Hell no. Airlines doing it isn't violating your civil rights because you have no right to fly. The government doing it is, IMO, a violation. The entire TSA needs to be disbanded and security handed back to the private sector.
NAMBLA is a left-wing organization.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

And perhaps to extend that just a step or two farther, the government's refusal to use meaningful risk assessments (translate - profiling) because of the political ramifications is the principal reason the TSA bureaucracy has the dumbass reputation it does.

If ALL the airlines did airport screening the same way, leveling the playing field, that would go a long way. I ain't so sure that would happen, though, unless FAA regs required some sort of industry commission to oversee such activities.
