primitive gets interview, but not the job

Oh my.

A primitive learns the stark reality of the job market when the Magic One's in the White House.

And by the way, gasoline prices as of today are 200% of what they were on January 20, 2009.

Interview!

Saw a job on craigslist Tuesday night. A real job, not a scam, imagine that!  Applied and got a response. Did a telephone interview yesterday and passed that round.

I will go for an onsite interview on Jan 17! I'm pretty sure I'm going to get it because the recruiter already signed me up for the two-day training session later this month!

1. Congrats

I hope that you get the job. What type of job is it?

It will be part time. But I will be able to save money for what I really want to do, which is start my own business.

3. Update

The interview for today was cancelled. They filled the position for now. The recruiter called me because they will have another round in February and they put me on that list.

OK.

In the meantime, I am trying some other options. The search continues. Sigh...

Well, good luck.  Hasn't the Magic One done wonders for the economy?

"Telephone research for a social sciences project, collecting data essentially."

Is that the liberal elitist way of saying the job was as a telemarketer (Phone 'ho)? :lmao:

What gets me is the primitive stated they were going to be working part time (as a telemarketer) and was going to save the vast wealth it collected from this lofty position to start its own business? How the hell does it eat, pay its rent and electricity, support its internet habit? Must be nice to have a life of no bills.

I'm sorry; but I have yet to find a legitimate job through Craig's List. When I first started my job search I used it; and actually replied to a few. I learned quickly that most (if not all) of them are just fishing for email addresses so that they can email you education and/or other solicitations. I will never use Craig's List as a part of my job search again.

15. I'm an example of this article

I have been laid off since 2008. That was my last job in Corporate America with a salary and "benefits". Read: useless medical "insurance" that costs too much to actually use. No dental, no 401K.)

What will I do? What will I replace that job with? I can't afford to retire in the traditional sense. I will start my own company. I am looking to take culinary classes so that I can work and earn money to get by. I plan to build up a brand that I can profit from over the years.

I have an advantage in that I own my house and I own my car. I minimize monthly costs as close as I can, I have internet and Netflix but no cable TV. I cook a lot from scratch. No processed foods. The SO is working to restore and sell vintage electronics. We won't need Corporate America, or very little of it. If they don't need me, I don't need them.

I blame Food TV for this shit.  Every schmuck with a couple of good recipes thinks they can open a restaurant.

Or spend all day washing dishes.  I wonder if she'll use organic, environmentally-conscious detergent.

I have found my last two jobs on CL.  There are some fishing scams, but they are usually weeded out pretty quickly.  Plus you can tell by just reading them in most cases.

It's worse than that. Everybody that has eaten at a restaurant thinks that they can run one.

Build a BRAND? What, Uncle Moonbeam's Old Time Liberal Foodstuff Solution?

I hope the idiot tries to do it, and realizes that MONEY is required to fund a "brand," and people who have that MONEY have LESS of it when Obummer demands that "rich people" "spread the wealth around."

     Brand, my balls.

Working in a restaurant is damned hard work. Managing one is even harder. Owning one is a guarantee for 16-20 hour days, 7 days a week, with Christmas and maybe Thanksgiving off.

For some reason I just don't see any dummie doing that.

Nope.

I regularly worked until 2am to make sure the next day had enough on hand to make it through the night.  It's a ton of work.  And I was working two jobs at the time.
