industries you would like to disappear
For me number one is professional politicians, should be a calling not a career, also payday loan places and diploma mills just due to their Tv ads bombarding me all day long.

I have no problem at all with "professional politicians" as long as they are committed to representing the public interest. I don't accept the premise that just because they "have been there too long" they have to be owned by the special interests. Time in office is not the corruption; it is those we elect, and ourselves, who are the culprits.

If I were disappearing industries, I would eliminate the insurance industry. For most things, I would eliminate the banking industry. I would nationalize certain necessities like the oil industry and possibly even the agribusiness industry. The production of necessities should not be "for profit". Also, necessities should not be allocated, i.e. rationed, by price. No one should get steak until everyone has gotten hamburger. No one should heat two homes until everyone can afford to heat one. No one should be able to drive a gas guzzler until there is sufficient fuel, or at least mass transit, for all.

I also don't like our current legal system too much. What kind of justice are we peddling when the rich man can buy a top lawyer and all sorts of investigators and consultants and a poor man is offered an underpaid and overworked public attorney with little or no staff? That's not justice the way I define it. I suppose what I'm saying is that for-profit lawyers should not exist in a system that seeks to be just.

I'd also like to nationalize the "defense" industry. Weapons production, to the extent it's needed, should be a government function. The idea that people profit from it seems perverse to me. Also, the for-profit military procurement process perverts our democracy and our national priorities.

Oh, and advertising. Get rid of 'em. Advertisers, if we allow them at all, should have to pay for equal time for opposing views. You want to sell your cars on TV? Fine... I oppose encouraging more auto use. I think it's poisoning our atmosphere and causing 30,000 deaths or more every year. Also, the auto industry is anti-mass transit and anti-bicycle. For-profit advertisers should be forced to pay for non-profit opposing views in amounts equal to their advertising budgets. I know... don't hold your breath...

Eliminate:
1-The Banking industry or heavily regulate their ability to merge and buy up smaller banks and act like they are in a casino playing with house money. (your and My money)
2-The oil industry, who stand in the way of anything (solar, wind, light rail) that could put dent in their bottom line and keep us addicted to their product, why sending our young men and women into harms way to protect their obscene profits.
3-For profit health care and for profit health insurance companies (and the right bitch about death panels). We have death panels now.
4-For profit Charter Schools. We had two charter schools in Indiana just close mid year because they weren't making enough money. What about the money you already paid us and where will your child go next semester? Sorry about your damn luck. We are broke. And most of the charter schools here are preforming well below the public schools here.
5-Large Media giants (Fox Noise, Comcast, Clear Channel, Gannet News Papers,
6-Industries that ship jobs overseas for cheap or slave labor
7-The tobacco industry. It is legal to produce and sell a product that is proven to kill you and cost billions in additional health cost (see #2) but if you get caught smoking a joint witch has so affect on your health you go to jail.
8-Pharmacutical industry.
9-Speculators, who use every imagined panic to manipulate cost on everything from oil to corn
10- Lobbyist. 11-Touch screen and digital voting machines like Di Bold. One person one vote on a PAPER Ballot.
12-Blue Dog Democrats.

Fixes to these problems:
1-Nationalized Banking system or so regulated that they can't buy office supplies without a microscope up their ass to verify there are no shenanigans going on.
2-Nationalize the oil industry. If any industry should be run in the public interest it should be one who has such a dramatic impact on so many facets of our security and economy.
3-Universal health care/ Medicare for all / single payer. Call what you will but **** people making a profit by deciding you gets care or not.
4-More funding for early education, school lunches, special education, special needs education. Free or 0 % college or trade school education. It's an investment in our future. The right say we can't afford it. WE CAN'T AFFORD NOT TO DO IT.
5-Impose serious limits on the number of media outlets one person or company can own. Re institute the fairness doctrine. The right claims to be all about fairness,opportunity and competition but nothing scares the shit out of these people more than knowing they have to compete without being able to buy and shut down alternative media outlets.
6-Impose strict tariffs so high on good made by cheap labor overseas that it becomes cost prohibitive to make it there. They would have no choice but to make it here and pay a living wage to make it. Then people who make it have enough money to buy it, thus creating more demand to make more stuff.
7-Lots of things that will harm you are illegal. Add tobacco to that list.
8-Nationalize the pharmacutical industry. There is no reason someone should have to chose between, food, shelter or medication.
9-If speculators want to gamble let them do so with their money. not our pension funds. Market manipulation for profit should be an offense worthy of severe jail time
10-Publicly funded elections. I am against the death penalty but I might make an exception for lobbyist, speculators, war profiteers and oil and insurance executives.
11- See #10 We send people around the world to spread "democracy' and oversee elections. Maybe it's time for some one to come here and oversee ours.

unfortunately you seem unable to ignore me, and if others want to then i have no problem with them doing so, my mind is not so closed that i cant learn from other peoples viewpoints or experiences. Do you really believe that change will only come from one side of the debate, i think that all reasonable people can come to an understanding and accomodations that will suit all starting with the right of the individual to live their life as to their will. You seem unwilling or unable to understand that progress comes from all people stating their starting position then moving together to find a compromise that all can live with, whether thats in business, relationships or life in general. I for one am happy to talk to all to gain insights into the human condition and mayby to learn some new stuff, i cant remember who siad it but a closed mind is a narrow one or somesuch.

once again this is an idea that is needed, you mayby need to have a chance to see other points of view in order to grow as a person. So your entire premise is wrong even if i considered myself on the right.

I like the list put together by IndyLegend. This might make me unpopular here, but I'd add organized religion to that list.
Since people will insist on maintaining their mythologies, the churches should at least be taxed like everyone else (well, even minimally as corporations are). But organized religion is a major scam, and all religions have done major damage to people in various ways, in terms not only of perverted abuse but also of warped sense of physicality and sexuality, feelings of guilt, obsession with conforming to ridiculous dictates, molding of individuality into fear-ridden small-mindedness, etc.
At least make it illegal to subject children to the mind control of religion -- people should have to wait until they're 21 to make the major jump into corporate spirituality, when they can make that decision on their own and not have it forced on them.

Many of these idiots claim they want to get rid of the banking industry; My father is a prominent investment banker who has helped people properly manage their assets so they will be provided for in their old age and they'll have something to leave to their children. Why do they worry so much about what the "other" guy has?  I also don't understand their mantra that wealthy (read anyone making more than them) have stolen from them. Especially when they readily admit they want to steal from the "rich".  

My husband would be considered "rich" by their standards. He works his butt off, he not only has a full time job where he works well over 40 hours a week, he has two side contract jobs that he works on when he is home. He, along with other employees who they would consider "rich", have designed and engineered new products which in turn allows the company to hire more people to keep up with the demand and new R&D.  He has never stolen anything from anyone. We paid for his college, it took us 10 years to pay off the loans. He is the face of the majority of the "rich" that they despise. Hell, look how Obama vilifies the "rich".  I feel personally attacked by him every time he opens his lying mouth. He has pited the poor against the rich, it is the only way the left can hold on to power and it is disgusting.

I'm sure they would complain about my husband's side jobs.  You know, someone who already makes a good living stealing jobs from other people.

The Kiddie porn industry, billions of bucks spent and received to produce videos for the fuc*ed up to watch.

What about the Snuff Film makers that kill people for the delight of their audience.

Puppy mills that are protected by the state laws.   It is a felony in some states to film the conditions inside these industry's. Why, the conditions of the animals are so bad, if people knew the Mills would go out of business and the State would loose all that tax money bribes and graft.   

Foreign industries that register in America but have no factory's on American soil.  Just a Po. Box will do and items made overseas can be sold as made in America.

Let me turn this over and think outside the box here.   Perhaps Government outsider contractors that charge $400. to make a toilet seat ???
