SPAM phone calls
« on: January 17, 2012, 11:59:48 AM »
I've heard that Illinois' Attorney General (Lisa Madigan) goes after the violators of the no call registry.

Well, we will now see what happens. I will mail my complaint to her today, with an attached list of 20 SPAMs I've received, from all over the country, for the credit card interest scam since 12/08/2011.

Our phone have been on the do not call registry since it became available.

We've had good luck with do-not-call here in Missouri. Still get the computer dialers scanning for voice lines, though.

With the exception of the political robocalls which have mercifully ended, I've been pretty lucky ever since we got all the phones put on the DNC registry.

Now if we could just do the same with e-mail.

I think you'll find that the SPAM credit card interest calls can't be stopped by "Do Not Call"........I went to the mat with our AG here in MO,and was advised that they originate from overseas, via VOIP, and to contact the US Commerce Dept, which I did, and received a bureaucratic shoulder shrug.  They have bigger fish to fry apparently.....

All of the numbers that you sent were likely fake spoofed callerID numbers.......occasionally they spoof a real bank number into the caller ID, but most of them are phony.

We just ignore them now......or when one comes in repeatedly press the "pound" sign on the phone, as this mimics the phone company's "line disconnected signal"......forcing the calling computer software to delete your number from their active database.

Here's my record, in Excel. Sorry about the non-alignment of the info, but I don't know how to post things like that. I know that Jackson's call isn't covered by this, but I included it anyway.

I'll try the # key for the next one.

I have an ex-girlfriend that spam texts me sometimes 20 times a day.  She has a recurring theme; I didn't give her a chance to show me what a wonderful person she is, and I am just a asshole that took advantage of her and left.  She also calls me a lot of bad names.  I wish that I could put her on a no call list.

Your provider should allow you to either block her number or change yours.  There are some drawbacks, though.

Or just get a TRO out on her.  Nothing breaks the ice on a first date like the question, "So, have you ever been accused of stalking someone?"
