They still don't get it (Tebow hate)

It's a rollicking good time at The Hive for the atheists and God-haters tonight:

Looks like Jebus is busy tonight
Poor Timmy

http://election.democraticunderground.com/1002170175

Despite the fact that Tim Tebow himself has explained that God doesn't care who wins football games. Despite the fact that he shows great personal humbleness. Despite the fact that his prayers are solely for the purpose of giving the glory to God for his personal abilities and accomplishments rather than indulging in personal pride. They still love to try and paint him as someone so shallow as to pray to God for miracles for personal gain.

DUmmies are the perfect example of people who have to see someone else face adversity in order for them to feel better about themselves, and they celebrate it with gusto. What sick souls.

What did it for me with this Tebow thing was his anti-choice commercial last year! Added to that, Focus On the Family bought airtime during this game and look what happened.

Jebus is busy, indeed!

His attempts to establish a new fashion of public piety is not just revolting but against the bible that he pretends to promote;

Tebow's public prayer or citation of scripture has nothing do with religion. Demonstrations of public piety are anathama to true religion and are sharply criticized by the Rabbi Jesus.

Matthew 6:5 - 7

5. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites : for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen : for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

If the Rabbi Jesus that some call the Christ can criticize the practice of public demonstrations of piety then I think it is acceptable for us to do so here. If he is moved by compassion for an individual that suffers let him advocate of changing the system that will deal all that suffer not the few individuals that he has a chance to meet.

That's only one out of about eight posts so far that plays the "Matthew 6:5" card. It's one of the few cherry-picked Bible verses the DUmmies know by heart and I'm pretty sure they keep a laminated card with it printed on it in their pockets at all times for easy reference, based on what I've seen in all corners of the internet. To repeat the oft-used line from Inigo Montoya, "I do not think it means what you think it means." Besides, they totally neglect all the other passages from Scripture that exhort Cristians to share their witness of the Lord.

I'm wondering why God isn't with Tebow tonight? Did Brady the Patriots pray harder or what? My opinion is that the Patriots are a better team than the Broncos.

Why doesn't the hypocrite kneel and gibber to Gawd every time one of his defensive backs gives up a 30 yd pass but escapes uninjured if you are right? Sure looks to me like he thinks the almighty Lord of Creation expects prayers more when his team scores.

have to profess a religion to perform good deeds.

That's the problem line. Tebow and people like him should please keep their personal, spiritual beliefs out of my living room. It would not be tolerated if Tebow were a Muslim or a Jew. Let's be honest about that.

Therefore, the best thing to do is to keep it out of domains where it doesn't belong.

Have a nice evening.

At least a couple of people do get it:

63. It appears you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the role of prayer in football

View profile
The prayer isn't generally a request for god to help their team win a football game. The prayers are usually about looking over the team so nobody gets injured, playing your best with the talents god gave you, honoring god while playing, and thanking god for giving you the physical ability to perform at such a high level. No athlete I've ever spoken to actually thought god cared about the outcome of a particular game, or that god was rooting for or helping one team or another. The only people I've ever heard say anything like that are atheists and those who do it in a mocking manner.

84. Tebow haters are funny.

View profile
Not in what they say, because it's always the same dumb jokes (seriously, freshen that stale crap up).

They're funny because they stomp their feet when he wins, and feel some weird satisfaction when he loses. The guy by all accounts is living a fantastic life and made it to the playoffs, and by contrast his detractors are hanging around wallowing in their counter-culture hipness and indulging petty, bilious fantasies that they somehow win when he loses.

They are, in short, the exact mirror of the people they loathe: those who over-inflate Tebow winning into a win for his religion. Except at least those people are rooting FOR something and someone.

And I'm not even a Denver fan. I'm been a Brady fan since Michigan, so I was on the same rooting side as all the Tebow haters, but I still have to think they've lost nonetheless.

Ouch.

Its their goal for everyone to live in misery. They are pathetic.
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

~ Dr. William Pierce

He is probably one of the best role models there is in sports.  While I am a Pats fan and could not listen to the Tebow hype this week, I have no issue with it.   He would be welcome to spend time with the kids anywhere in New England.

He also has a lot of potential as an athlete.   I wouldn't count this guy out anytime soon.  He may very well be an elite QB in the near future.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I don't follow football much but the Charlotte Panthers are right up the road and I'm tired of hearing about Cam Newton. I despise him for the same reason I despise Obama, they're both arrogant S.O.B.'s.

They may have been good in college football but they're playing a different style of football with the big boys now. It'll take a couple of years for them to learn and settle down and play at their best.

thanks for posting that JR. I was thinking it sure takes a lot of (fake) balls to say keep someone's beliefs out of their living room when they advocate all the time for putting their beliefs(born of nothing) on display for everyone. I don't generally wear the source of my beliefs on my sleeve, but I see nothing wrong with someone who is very public in the celebration of the source of their beliefs. I'm also not in the public eye where everyone can see every moment I celebrate to my maker for the things I have, do, and even for my challenges. What I can not get about liberals is this man just has very deeply held beliefs(like they do); nothing more, nothing less. Why do they find it so objectionable for him to express himself in the same public manner their beloved OWS would(minus the rape, violence, and disease)? They are really the ones incapable of deep thought and introspection or they'd actually have an inking of shame at their own hypocrisy when it comes to something like this.

I cannot count the numerous times Sandy Koufax and Shawn Green have been praised as being a "paragon of piousness" by the sports media by missing games in observance of Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashanah, etc.
