Lennon was such a monstrous hypocrite.
He sang about peace and love, yet it's well known that he was verbally and at times physically abusive towards his son and both his wives.
He sang about imagining no possessions, even as he drove a Rolls Royce and lived in an Upper East Side penthouse.
That's another first/ record for John Lennon; He ushered in the age of the ultra- liberal, ultra- hypocritical celebrity.
Mr. Mann, good point. He only altered one small line from the song, yet it's the line that freaks like the DUmmies hold most dear. Again, the irony about this song about peace and love is that the one line his ultra- liberal followers hold most sacred is the one that encourages their hatred of anyone who believes in God.
Personally, I never liked that song. When I was at my job at a hardware store and that song played on the store's radio, I'd always try and find something loud to do to drown it out for me.
