A very long thread but worth rowing over.

SYNOPSIS: Cid_B asks why Manning gets so much rockstar treatment when he has a repeated history of violence towards women.

Naturally, the first accusations are: WHAT VIOLENCE?!?! You're making this up. Why do you have to lie about St. Bradley of the Purple Pucker Hole!

Well, it turns out there is a body of reports. Apparently a superior found Manning holding down a female and pummelling her with enough force to leave her swollen.

Later he was reduced in rank for striking an officer who was coincidentally female. He even went so far as to call her a dyke at a forum he frequented. Those in denial deny this of course.

Additionally, his wiki entry cites an incident where he was led from the family home by police after pulling a knife on grandma.

The next line of defense is to claim this is a frame-up ala Julian "you called me here, of course you want to ****" Assange. Since Assange has not been found guilty--because he's fighting extradition--somehow proves Manning is also just as innocent.

Then there is the Scott "Friend of Whoreson" Ritter whose noble work of--something--should exonerate his penchant for meeting his erstwhile sexual partners at the local McDonald's Play Place. You see, St. Manning also revealed--something--although we're not sure what because for the massive amount of data dumped the missives have been consistently an embarrassment for progressive policy-makers more than they have ever revealed any nefarious plot of the RW neocon oil-sotted Zionist cabals to frame poor, innocent Middle Eastern dictators with fabricated evidence of WMD. Of all the secret memos St Manning released he missed the folders that reveal where 1 million Iraqis deliberately gunned down by Dick Cheney are buried.

Oddly, these are the sorts of beneficient doubts or contextualizations never allowed to people like Herman Cain or even the legally and ethically thrice-married Newt Gingrich (The Clintons and Kennedys could not be reached for comment).

Still, they twist and spin and it is fun to watch.

Go have a looksee. How absurd do the defenses become?

I saw the thread, your description is as on-target as any attempt to corral the madness, denial, nonsequiturs, and syllogisms on display there could possibly be.  They have constructed a playground for stupidity, illogic, and evasion that is truly colossal in its scope!

And what's with this 'Pte Manning' thing?  It's either PV1 or PV2 according to AR 25-50, or of course PFC for an E3.

this is the first I've heard that he identified as female, and anyway, all that means is the pronoun 'he' would be inappropriate. It isn't exactly cool for women to be beating up on other women, whether or not they are transgender. (generally it's not cool for people to beat on other people, actually.)

Does not matter what gender Manning identified as when Manning enrolled.

I agree it does not matter if both are women or men - however to the OP it does. ("... how do you get up the nerve to hold up a guy who beats women as this paragon of virtue? Among all his other amazing qualities of course... " ).

These are the same people who will tell you that females and sissies are somehow equal enough to men to serve in combat.

Ummm,  Pvt Manning can identify himself as a female panther trapped in a male human's body, but every cell of HIS body identified him as a human male, much as anybody else may believe he's unfit for the title.
