BAD VESTA came across a book years ago titled " The Lies Our Teachers Taught Us "
Naughty Vesta gave the book to a family member that was a retired American History Highschool Teacher.
Result was this Conservative Church going family member was appalled. They spent hours on the internet to disprove each chapter, SURPRISE, the poor retired teacher realised that for 40 years they had been teaching from a political point that had been white washed or morphed into something quite different from what THEY were Taught or the Schools demanded they teach.
At first I felt bad about pulling their tail they were old, why bother them with the facts??? Darn if they did not begin to teach again in a Christian Church School part time in order to set the record straight. It became important to them to insure the students got the facts, not what some Liberal was writing for the textbooks.
To their surprise they ran up against Liberal Christians that challenged them, they also had been brain washed by those with a political ax to grind.
Never know unless one reads the kids textbooks what and by whom they are learning from. They now believe that what a teacher teaches, unless Math, it is not the kids responsibility to investigate their education, it is to those that teach to insure their students have all information pro and con on the subject. Few question American History over what they are taught.
Only subject where a teacher can freely tell the student is Science " it use to be thought so and so was this way. Today we now know the thinking was wrong, the Experts were wrong at that time"-------
