Hmm. I'm trying to be impartial. I wont mention the thread/post, but the jurors that just served will probably know. I guess I'm just a bad juror...the response that was voted 5-1 to be deleted wasn't nasty or rude. Just stupid and wrong. Is our role here really to filter out the stupid and the wrong, or can we use them as examples to help teach others how stupid and wrong they are?

As I posted in my jury explanation, if I deleted every post I disagreed with I'd have little left to read here on DU.16

IMHO, opposition to gay marriage is (at a minimum) insensitive. I think the vote to hide was justified.

Furthermore, opposition to gay marriage is a DU Terms of Service violation. I have revoked his posting privileges.

ON EDIT: I should have added that I also think your choice is legitimate as well. Reluctance to censor vile opposing viewpoints is completely appropriate. You did well.

At some point I will flame out too. When I do I will post it all here cause DU cannot bear to show a dissenting opinion. That way the lurkers can get the low down here and realize they've been talking to me all along.

My goal now is to see the agony and tears when they lose 2012...

I know it is a privately owned site that skins can do with as he pleases but just notice the authoritarian tone.
Anyone doubt that if the left had full control any dissenting thought would lead you to the gulag?

One can be reluctant to censor an opposing view point as long as one doesn't have an opposing view point.

I guess in the bizzaro world that is DU, that makes complete sense.

Yes, technically, but they are very, ahh, 'Flexible' in applying that rule.  Opposition to gay marriage/"rights", advocating for the formation or support of a third party, and expressions of intolerance toward the religion, ethnicity, or cultural horrors of anyone overseas who really truly hates America and wants to kill Americans are the most reliable ways to get kicked off the island.

We took quite a haul to the Salvation Army this morning; were it not for wanting the tax writeoff I'd've donated the loot in one of their names. :-)
