3. It's worse than that. Download.com fried my hard drives yesterday.
I downloaded an update to one of the programs I had previously installed from them, and when I ran it, it fried both my external hard drives. Microsoft Security Essentials didn't catch it in time, but when I did a full scan, 43 viruses had erupted all over my computer, and it looks like the USB terminals the hard drives were plugged into were fried, too.
I managed to reinstall Windows this morning, but I will never trust Download.com again.
This was the virus that tried to hit me yesterday. Here's a hint, DUmbshits: The "Microsoft Security Essentials", WAS THE VIRUS, you twits!
(Real easy to take care of, too. Locked down the firewall, ran a full scan with my antivirus software, then let it run a more intensive bootscan to make sure it had mopped up everything. No lost data, no corrupted files, just quarantine it like a disease-ridden OWS 'tard and eradicate it. I was back up yesterday evening like nothing had happened.)
