13 1/2 and a mouth full of braces...the boys are scared of her because she can be an ice queen and she's got long nails....she that they fear, fears me...I'm good, for now

But i never get complacent...I pick my battles and she knows what I(we) believe.
I agree with a person who made comments below about his dad's speech on alcohol..I've told mine the same...I'm not saying I won't be mad, but I'll be far less mad picking you up from a friends house alive then at the police station or worse the morgue. I told her we will deal with the repurcussions when everyone calms down the next day and the goal I have is to get her home safe and sound at that particular moment. She knows it is a not a free pass, but I value her life more then I value a perfect daughter. I think this attitude works when kids just go through normal teenage/young adult stuff...unfortunately, when it comes to addicts, this behavior enables. Fortunately, most average kids are not in the latter category.
Edit to add the above speech was not given in response to any bad behavior--I've always taken a proactive approach a couple or three years ahead of when I think they might need the information/guidance to put in their memory bank.
