She couldn't have been that sick, seeing as she took the opportunity to lecture the hospital employee on the wonders of universal healthcare:

Yesterday's chest x-ray, and the hospital employee
I had pneumonia. Yesterday's x-ray and doctor visit was to verify it's finally gone. The imaging center is across the parking lot from my doctor's office, and one does not need an appointment for a chest x-ray. I presented our insurance card (THANK YOU to Mr. Missy Vixen's employer,) and waited for the hospital employee to find my doctor's orders online. She asked for my ID. I asked why.

"Well, we've been having a lot of trouble with people who come in here and try to use someone else's health insurance. Can you believe that?"

Considering the fact that we went without health insurance for over a year two years ago, I was calm, but I wasn't letting that one go: "Somebody would have to be pretty desperate to do something like that, wouldn't they?"

"Well, it's wrong. They should know better."

I'm still calm. After all, my mom used to tell me you get a lot more cooperation with honey than you do with vinegar. "One in six Americans doesn't have health insurance now. Over 100 million Americans can't afford to use the health insurance they have because they can't afford the co-pays and additional charges."

She wasn't quite sure how to respond to this. She finally managed to locate the doctor's orders, handed me back my card and my ID, and I went to sit down and wait for the x-ray tech.

I remain astonished that every medical person besides our GP I've ever talked to about costs (one of which was the pulmonologist I saw yesterday,) either plays dumb, or infers that those without insurance just shouldn't bother appearing in a hospital or doctor's office. I will keep smiling and repeating facts. After all, one can't argue with facts, and those 150 million uninsured/underinsured are their neighbors, their friends, people they see every day...

1. The clerks aren't the best informed people in the world, that's for sure

We caught one of them telling patients health care was so expensive because nurses made too much money!

Needless to say, we stopped her using that line fast.

We need to educate the educable, meaning we have to make the attempt whenever they stick their necks out far enough for us to notice how ignorant they are. And we do need to err on the side of simple ignorance, not spite or sheer stupidity until they prove to us that those are the real problems.

Very well done. She might think about what you said and STFU about those awful people trying to cheat the system: after all, nobody has Xrays for fun. Then again, she might be a Rushbot. At least you tried.

WTF? Is it just me or did this person just excuse fraud? Fraud is okay when it's someone who is uninsured....and they need an Xray? The lib's dream world is a scary, scary place. Sheesh!

The defrocked warped primitive does that a lot, encourages people to lie to medical personnel.

She's even told HIV-potentials to lie when donating blood.

You see, the defrocked warped primitive was once a registered nurse, in Massachusetts (she's 60 years old).

That is, until the time she stole the key to the narcotics cabinet in the hospital.

So now she lives in New Mexico, and isn't a registered nurse any more.

What did all that have to do with the clerk, who was probably verifying IDs by instruction of the office manager or someone higher up?

If someone was fraudulently using up insurance coverage I had purchased from my family, I'd want to know about it. If the OP is alright with it though, why doesn't she just go ahead and buy a policy for a poor person and relieve them of having to go through the subterfuge?

Finally, why are DUmmies constantly browbeating and punishing lower level drones, whether it be check out clerks or commuters trying to get around their little protests or whatever, and coming back to DU and crowing about it like they just took down the CEO of a Fortune 500 company?

Just wait until someone gets one of their insurance cards, and they end up with a bill because of it. They won't be so sympathetic anymore to the plight of the uninsured.

Yep...just imagine this same story if the employee had said, "Our records show you had your follow-up x-ray yesterday.  I'm sorry, but we can't do 2 x-rays in 2 days due to radiation exposure limits.  Oh, and they also say you had quite a few other tests run.  Well, at least you've met your deductible by now, right?"   :-)  All of a sudden, someone stealing her insurance (and screwing up her medical records DUH!!!) wouldn't look so funny or forgivable.   :rotf:

Why is it every time someone asks these goons for identification or a receipt at Wal Mart they hassle the poor person?

You need a photo ID in NJ when you see a Doctor, the reason? like the OP said, people using others insurance, the consequences? higher rates for those of us paying it. Can someone tell me why the hell I'm paying almost $1,000 a month for my health insurance? I could buy some really cool things with what I pay for a premium.

:bs: Hospitals don't have a problem when emergencies come in, but they do if someone comes in with a minor symptom that isn't an emergency, and they could make an appt. at the clinic. BTW, why do you think so many Hospitals have been closing? because they don't have enough money coming in to function.

She was absolutely right it was wrong. Fraud drives healthcare costs including insurance up, DUmbass, making it even less affordable for those people you care so much about supposedly. And what of the person that bill will go back to--you know the part that is not covered and the person responsibility gets the bill for? It's almost like credit card fraud--someone's going to get the bill and where exactly is the person receiving treatment in all this? And no, not only desperate people commit fraud DUmbasses. Either way, DUmmies, put aside your supposedly generous(with other people's or corporation's monies) and you'll acknowledge the clerk was absolutely right in her assertion. BTW, I wonder how many headaches that creates for that dr's office in records too? How many overtime hours(thus driving up costs more) to straighten out records that are now innacurate? Just sayin' Actions have consequences dumbasses

They always condone fraud so long as it gets them what they want or supports their belief system. In their world too everyone except them and their tight circle of liberal sycophants are evil and worthy of manipulation, ridicule, and scamming. What's dangerous about liberalism is exactly what you see before you; they have absolutely no or a relative moral compass. Anything really is and can be justified based on what they want at any given time. You simply can not trust people like that to run a country let alone interact with people in a trusted, meaningful, and ongoing way.

No. Not desperate, just cheap. Remember that number one mantra when it comes to a democrat and finances, "spend someone else's money."

..Interestingly enough, I feel this is what the OWS movement has devolved into- using The Constitution as an excuse to commit fraud, destruction, disruption, and theft. They see themselves as a bunch of appointed Robin Hood types - here to save America from 'Da Man'
