My 25 Days of Christmas review series...
« on: November 30, 2011, 06:30:48 AM »
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, especially for moviegoers!
I’m sure most of you recall my October Monster- fest review series. Well now, if you guys would like, I’d like to do the same with Christmas. Every day from tomorrow through Christmas Day, I will be watching a different Christmas- themed movie or TV special (If it’s a series of relatively short TV specials with a common theme, I might do more than one of them in a day’s entry).
Some will be well- known and beloved Christmas classics (i.e. Miracle on 34th Street, It’s a Wonderful Life), others will be newer and/ or more obscure ones that I think deserve more recognition than they’ve been getting. Some will be moving, some will be funny, one or two might even be scary. Unlike in my Monster- Fest, though, I don’t think I’ll be doing a specific theme every week or so, I’ll just be doing each movie when it’s most convenient for me.
I’ll try to get one out each day, though that may be difficult as my house’s Internet connection always becomes sporadic around this time of year, and it’s looking like this year might be the same. However, I will definitely have 25 up by Christmas Day.
Do any of you have any requests that you’d like to maybe see me talk about? Send a reply letting me know, and I'll see if I can (Note: Before any of you ask, unless plans drastically change, I will NOT be reviewing ‘Elf;’ I always considered that such an overrated film, mainly because I hate Will Ferrell with the heat of a thousand suns).
Hope you enjoy it, and I’ll see you at the movies!

Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer was on last night. The daughter HATES it, so it must be good. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with the fact that I know all the songs...................... O-)

My wife and I were discussing why we love the damn thing. We came up with the fact that "back in the day" it only came on TV one time, and we as kids, made sure we DID NOT miss it.

I have some friends who played in the Salvation Army band scene in that film. One of the cool things about that film was that it was filmed in Cleveland, for real, in the snow and crap that Cleveland is famous for.

My friends say they froze their asses off while filming that scene.

Christmas in July!  I found a new Christmas movie on Netflix.  It's a rip on the blaxploitation movies from the 70's (it even has Tony King) in a Mel Brooks style.

Andy Dick is Santa Claus' son (I think he's adopted) who kills Santa and takes over the North Pole.  It's cute, it's funny, and has lots of Jewish jokes.

Netflix has a lot of really cheap movies. :-)
