Secret Bill To Be Voted On Today Would Allow The Military To Sweep Up US Citizens At Home Or Abroad
Robert Johnson | Nov. 28, 2011, 10:57 AM | 12,899 | 92

Either Monday or Tuesday the Senate will vote on a bill that allows the US military to imprison civilians with no formal charges and hold them with no trial.

The ACLU reports even US citizens wouldn't be immune as the legislation aims to declare national territory part of the "battlefield" in the War on Terror.

Termed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and drafted behind closed doors by Senators Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.) the NDAA would:

Levin & McPain. Why am I not surprised?

Gosh, but if it's secret...

You do realize that there is a new NDAA in every budget cycle, don't you?  After funds are appropriated in each Appropriations Act for the Executive departments and agencies, there is a follow-on Authorization Act to permit the department or agency concerned to actually commit, obligate, and disburse the funds provided.

I'm not sure is a panic is warranted.

This is a senate committee. Even if it passes with a full senate vote, it still has to go through the house.
If Obama wanted this bill so bad, he should have passed it in the Summer of 2010 when he could have kept it a secret.

I doubt that any of y'all have read Title 18, except for maybe DAT. There are already laws in place to perpetuate our Government & take care of "Domestic Terrorists" or revolutionaries. This new law will probably just add to it.

Exxcellent point, the House and Senate versions still have to be reconciled, even if this provision stays in the Senate version.  This is also the bill with the provision to require all 50 States to honor each other's CCWs, both of these provisions may have a tough time in conference.

Thor this strikes a cord for me.   Was not this law put in place during the Nixon years???

Remember his enemy's list that included keeping an eye on the BSA.

IIRC, maybe not, this law allowed the government to round up those they felt were a threat and hold them in detention with out a lawyer for as long as they wished.

Was this the Nixon years now I question, did this rule go much further back perhaps to WW2 ???

Is this by any chance the law that allowed Roosevelt to have the Japanese, Italians and Germans interred ???
