This campfire was lit before the game started, and doused after it was over, Nebraska 20, Iowa 7, after an abysmal performance by both teams.

The Heroes Game: Hawkeyes Vs. Huskers
Coming your way early this Friday. Iowa Vs. Nebraska. Should be good. Don't like the stoopid Heroes concept or trophy.
As a pal says, they should be playing for THE CORN BELT -- which would be a trophy belt like a Boxing Championship Belt, that the winner would take home.
Every player on the winning team could get his pic taken wearing the belt, and then it could sit in the trophy room until it was time again for The annual post-Thanksgiving Corn Belt Game.
The spiraling hawk primitive has it all wrong.
No Nebraskan of any substance cares about Iowa; Iowa's nothing to us.
It is possible that in future years, Iowa might beat Nebraska here and there (and I myself had thought we stood a pretty good chance of getting beat yesterday), but it's just Iowa. Iowa's nothing to Nebraska.
It's not like Iowa's Wisconsin or Ohio State or Michigan.
First up, the condom primitive, who's as old as franksolich and still in college, trying to defer paying off all those student loans he began acquiring way back when Jimmy Carter was president:

1. I always liked Farmageddon....
...with a trophy consisting of an ethanol plant blowing up. Have Stephen King design it. Looking forward to it, Spiral.

3. How about a free vacation to Mitchell, South Dakota?
The home of the only Corn Palace.
after which a picture of the Corn Palace in South Dakota
Enough with the corn jokes. Iowa is corn, Nebraska is beef.
It's true that Nebraska's the third-largest producer of corn among the fifty states, behind Iowa and Illinois, but only a third of Nebraska's dedicated to growing corn, while growing corn takes up just about every single arable acre in Iowa and Illinois.

4. And the trophy is finally unveiled!
The Heroes Trophy is on display for the first time in Lincoln, Neb., Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011. The University of Iowa and the University of Nebraska will hold an annual NCAA college football Heroes Game the day following thanksgiving, in which one citizen of Iowa and one citizen of Nebraska will be honored.

What the **** is that? A wheat wreath arond the football? Where is the corn?
after which a photograph of some "modern" "art" monstrosity
You know, I'm not fond of this "trophy" thing that seems a habit among other members of the Big 10; it seems silly.
The only "trophy" Nebraska needs is a win.

7. "Life is simple here..." - Ms. Schawang
"Brenda Jo Schawang and her son Taylor visited the stadium and checked out the trophy Wednesday morning -- they gave their approval.
"It's nice. You're Nebraska and Iowa, and you're simple; life is simple here," Brenda Jo Schawang said. "This trophy does the states justice -- it's the epitome of what we are."
Nebraskans and Iowans are the epitome of something that belongs in a scrap-metal heap?

Nebraska 20 Iowa 7
Not pretty for anyone. But Huskers finish the regular season 9-3, not great but not shameful for first Big 10 season...

11. And I sincerely hope that no Forumites wasted a second of their time...
...watching that game. Congrats, Spiral, but that wasn't like the Nebraska games the day after Turkey Day that I remember. And we can blame the hideous Hawkeye offense for that. Hopefully, this rivalry will become more.
It won't become anything more. Nebraska doesn't care about Iowa. Never has, never will.

12. I really think it will become more, Condem
The people of both states both want it so much. But I don't think it's going to be a bitter rival type thing over the years. Maybe more an open honest 'give me your best shot' end of season whoop dee do with, in general, mutual respect abiding. May it be so.
"The people of both states want it so much"--

Yeah, right.
