Well chickens come home to roost
‎#osd #occupysd Last night there were more arrests at the Plaza. Apparently sleeping is now an arrestable offense. One of them was a wheelchair bound man who came back this morning to say that "I was taken to a garage by the police, beaten for three hours and then taken to a hospital". — at City of San Diego, Civic Center Plaza, Suite 200, San Diego, CA 92101.

Realize I heard this from refugees coming from central America.
Proof? Nah, muckraking and the Will Pitt style of journalism is more your style isn't it.

1. Why am I hearing this from you
instead of on every news channel?
'Cause it didn't happen?

2. Because our media is as effective and controlled
As the one in el Salvador.
Chickens. We taught this to police forces in central America. Then we tortured people at Abu graib...normal, if horrific progression. I will need to go to the encampment to find details.
Proof? Same as you have for the OP, huh?

3. I wonder, back when we first started our policy of spawning military dictatorships
around the world, and I don't know how much your average Joe really knew about it, but I'm sure a lot of them saw Woody Allen's Bananas at least, what was their reaction when they heard their government was teaching torture and murder and the stifling of democracy abroad? Did they think it was OK? Did they think it was necessary? Did they think who cares, it's over there, not over here? Did they really think it can't happen here?
Yep, the United States was acting in a international vacuum and not countering moves by a large aggressive communist dictatorship that was teaching and doing far worse.

5. Most people in the US don't know about it even today
Edited on Thu Nov-24-11 02:16 PM by nadinbrzezinski
Some of the things we heard from survivors are still clasified in the US.

6. Be careful out there
P.S.--I hear you're up for a Major Award.
And you aren't supposed to be even alluding to this site, pinwheel.

7. Oh the usual place?
I will accept it in the name of du. Gladly.
They hate that actually.
And trust me covering a story and thinking tactics is not quite what I expected to do in this country.
Making up bullshit is not the same as covering a story. Thinking is not quite your strong point. Go the hell back to Mexico.
Oh, and you're not supposed to allude to us either. I hope you did the responsible thing and alerted on the previous poster.

10. Where else?
You're figuring prominently in the nominations now in progress. Unfortunately, they don't give a physical award like Darren McGavin got...
If they did, I could say, "Break a leg!"
Look, if she should win it'll be by default. Sadly, the rest of you just aren't producing. She doesn't deserve anything except a swift boot in the ass....back to Mexico.

11. Oh my. Exciting
Will have to drink some bubbly to celebrate.
That's the part they don't get...they ain't hurting anybody. Getting the RW ahem...attention, means you're doing it right.
Well gee li'l lady ya got us, we're out ta hurt somebody. You'll win the award. Not for "doing it right" but for posting while obviously drunk. It's the Will Pitt strategy.

8. LAW SUIT TIME! Sue their asses! Major, Class Action LAW SUIT!
Of course this happens the night before a Holiday so the media wouldn't find the time or desire to report it because they're busy eating turkey! Rat Bastards.
Yes, let's take this to a law suit. Courts demand a small thing called actual PROOF. You have none.

9. My local media report any police misconduct?
Wake me up when it happens.
(And I am still too sick to go chase it downtown)
They aren't reporting it?

12. Awww....I hope you feel better soon.
The media in this country needs to be OCCUPIED! We really need to take it away from the Corporations. For anyone to ignore this story is a travesty.
You mean the media that has gone out of it's way to not report on the crimes and conditions of the protests?

13. Local MSM s under challenge from smaller indies
They are starting to feel the pressure.
I'm sure ABC San Diego is really, really concerned about the viewer they lost to some local web page.

14. Pressure? I Hope they're embarrassed as hell for not doing their job.
They need to be shamed out of business. They are COMPLICIT when they ignore this stuff. How can any media outlet ignore police brutality? Walter Cronkite and Edward R. Murrow are rolling over in their graves.
I'm sure Edward Murrow is, though not for the reason you think.
