I think I am going to do this for my rugrats.
Back when I had a 2 year old a 3 year old a 5 year old and a 9 year old, when we went anywhere I had T shirts with the order of their birth and in a big 1,2,3, and 4 on the front of bright red shirts.
This was the the only way I could keep track of the kids when we all got together to move and travel.
Disney land, No 4 climbed out of her stroller to follow some actor wearing a Mickey Mouse costume. I looked down to see an empty stroller and we all ran hither and yon then one of the kids saw her with the bright red shirt an large 4 holding hands with Mickey.
Now a day we are told to never put the kids names on outer where as a stranger can then call them by name. To put names on Jammas is up to the parents, but I would fear one of the kids could just with a name tag that big go out to bring in the paper and some walk by person then know their name.
Paranoid you betcha today, back then it was for connivance for me to number them by birth order, and as the kids were so close in age keep their clothing separate. Only the family knew the meaning of the number, no name one could use to lure away a child.
An aside , this was cheaper and easier then to put their names on anything, I could sew a number on anything but to put their name on is and was costly.
