poll: are the primitives looking forward to.....
« on: November 20, 2011, 06:01:00 PM »
As many here know, I watch the numbers--the traffic--just about every time I come here; it's part of the job, to find out what threads are "hot" and which are not.

Which should also explain my curious habit of resurrecting an ancient old thread from years ago; I bring it back up out of the depths because there's been a lot of "guests" reading it, and I'm curious what's provoking this unanticipated interest.

Anyway, it's not as nosy as one could make it out to be; I don't really care what decent and civilized people are reading, and so pay little or no attention to that.  I'm far more interested in what "guests," usually lurking primitives, are reading.

Any registered member can do the same thing, by checking "[users online]" at the bottom of the main forum page; one sees exactly what a moderator sees (I dunno what an administrator sees), excepting for the ISP numbers of members and "guests."

And, by the way, it's handy to check that once in a while, because a "guest" might be reading a thread of interest to one, that one hasn't seen before.  And it's an easy matter, while on the same page, to click on the title of the thread to read it.  I especially suggest this if one's already read all the current threads here.  There's some real jewels from 2007, 2008, 2009, that "guests" seem to find.

Anyway.

Today, this Sunday before Thanksgiving, is our best day in November of any year.  Part of it is probably that the "Official Nomination Thread" for the Top DUmmies of 2011 was posted, and the primitives are curious as to what the rules and standards are.  Another part of it is that more and more primitives, alas, are aware of our existence.

I checked past Novembers, the day the "Official Nomination Thread" was first posted in other years, and today's traffic far exceeds traffic on those other first days.

Whether this is good or bad is arguable.

One can only speculate, since no decent and civilized person has ever been able to penetrate the mind of a single primitive, but does one suppose the primitives are more agog and excited about this year's races than they had been in the past?

I really don't know, myself, and am hesitant to guess.

Oh yeah.

We should get some DUzzy campfires in the next several days.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

All the more the reason, I guess, people should keep one finger near the "Prt Scrn" key on the keyboard.

It would be really interesting if we could get more cross board talk with DU about the DOTY contest. Sadly, that is a difficult undertaking. While over here at CC and CU we can openly talk about the DOTY campaign and almost anything else. Unfortunately at DU, the self proclaimed site of tolerance and openness, they aren't allowed to have such open discussion.

I would think that the best way to do that would be joining each others boards, but that brings up a problem. We can't openly join DU because we are thinking people who refuse to bow down to the liberal group mind. The DUers, on the other-hand, are more than welcomed to join here, but as liberals they usually have a deep streak of cowardice that prevents them from debating superior individuals,

Since the above option is out of the question, I think the best thing to do would to be to develop a code that the DUers could use at their site to talk to us here on CC.

For instance, 'soaring in the clouds' could be code for the top spot in the DOTY contest.
An example of it's use would be: I sure wish I was soaring in the clouds. Translation: I sure wish I was the front runner in the DOTY.
Another example: DU member DickyDo really should not be soaring in the clouds.  Translation: I really don't think that DickyDo should be voted DOTY.

Flippy, while I do think that your idea has a lot of merit, what about the worst of the worst?  The antithesis of "soaring in the clouds" is "digging a trench short of the runway."  Just a thought.

Would that be a straddle trench latrine?

If you could straddle a trench made by a plane coming short of the runway, more power to you.

I've always encouraged the primitives to develop a code the moderators can't see.

It goes back to the Scamdal, when for a short while my fellow alum Skins forbade any discussion of the scam (the ban didn't last a long time), the scamming primitives huddled in the cooking and baking forum and commented in code, based upon recipes for chicken soup.

I myself'd be more than happy to help the primitives develop a code, but the primitives don't pay any attention to franksolich, don't even know who franksolich is.
