This is the first truly important thing that has happened in DECADES. It is peaceful, and yet it's the first time the corporate media has been unable to ignore the majority.

CNN is reporting this non-stop now. It's also showing the tranquility and peace of Occupiers. And the media is forced to use MILLIONS of its advertiser's funding to report Occupy movements.

This wonderful, wonderful leaderless movement is growing. It's growing in cities, campuses, towns, everywhere. It's growing EXPONENTIALLY.

My sister said this the other day: "Corporations and their lackeys are wondering how so many people have time to protest. How could they not? Corporations have taken their jobs away and impoverished them. What have they got to lose?"

I marvel at the amazing way ALL media is now reporting Occupy Movements thorughout the nation. WE who are unable to be present at Occupy protests, must do something, make calls, write, donate what we can to wherever.

then they are going to lose public support. Their right to free speech does not include the right to impede traffic. It doesn't matter to me if they wanna flood the streets at 5 am but they have no right to do that in full traffic at 8 or 9 am.

Impeding the streets while some people, perhaps ER doctors and nurses (who regularly work weekends) need to get to work is hardly peaceful or organized.

There are ways to get your message across without obstructing the streets. The protesters in Zuccotti Park are doing just fine. You don't see them jumping into the street and deliberately confronting the NYPD. Regardless of what you MAY think Sarah, people who aren't part of the movement but that are sympathetic to it are going to be TURNED OFF by this move. If these protesters are still in the streets at 8 am after the police have given them repeated warnings to move then most won't be sympathetic.

I don't want to join the Republicans. Just because I don't condone street-blocking doesn't make me a Republican. I've voted Democratic my entire life, straight-party line.

This isn't a revolution, first of all. I fully expect most of the protesters to go away once the weather turns shitty.

I do know one thing, however. Making the news for clashing with police is not going to engender more public support for the movement. If you don't believe me, let's see how much news Portland gets, and then check polls on support for OWS among the American public in 2 weeks time. My guess is that support will have fallen.

You'd think that all this energy going into street-blocking would be BETTER served at volunteering for the local Obama campaign office (I'm sure there's one in Portland), which is what I'm putting MY time toward.

As I watch the Occupy movement expand and grow exponentially throughout my country, I can't help but be amazed (and proud). I didn't think Americans had it in them.

I had begun to believe that Americans were a bunch of wimps, terrified, scared, servile, serf-like, and unable to fight the damage done to them by the corporatocracy that has controlled our country for the past few decades, from Reagan to the present.

The fact that this peaceful movement arose out of nothing, and that it is growing ever more, and that the corporate media can no longer ignore it, causes me to reassess what Americans are made of.

Our country once understood revolution. We practically WORSHIP the revolution we fought against the British. We once were proud and unwilling to bend down for those who would have us serve them without representation. And yet for decades we've been mute. Gagged. Appearing helpless.

Little groups that sprang up, attempted to approach the powers-that-be, ever so nicely, and they were given no respect, the media ignored them, their attempts fell by the wayside. It was as if they had not even existed.

Now, however, for the first time, there is a leaderless movement of the people, and this movement does nothing but grow and make itself heard. For the first time, the powers-that-be cannot ignore it, and any attempts to hurt it, will be recorded, photographed and spread. I do what I can. I talk to people about the movement, spread it via e-mail, have a quote about OWS on my e-mail that goes out to anyone I email. This is MY movement. OUR movement.

The powers-that-be are slowly losing their grip, thanks to this peaceful, ever-growing movement.

And I am SO proud of them.
