Men's group after one year

The good news: the wheels haven't fallen off DU. Posts in the group are probably less likely to require moderation than those in GD.

The bad news: poor visibility leads to poor activity. No one sees it unless they've subscribed to it.

The solution: make the group a topic forum. Posts in topic forums show up on the latest pages, being worthy of general notice. Issues of interest to half the population are comparable in general relevance to GLBT, Choice, Environment, Guns, Disability, Women's rights and Health.

DU groups serve a useful role in allowing discussion on very narrow topic interests such as Pagan spirituality and classical music. Issues of interest to half the population are qualitatively unlike other DU groups. They should not be marginalized.

Democrats must do more meaningful outreach to men. Men need to be recruited into progressivism, open hostility (although much better than it was a couple of years ago) does a big disservice to our cause.

(In case one's not aware, "topic" forums on Skins's island are open to all; "group" forums require a special donation to Skins's island, for a primitive to post in them.)

We're not going to make any changes to the forums and groups on DU2 with DU3 right around the corner. On DU3, the groups and "small forums" will all have exactly the same visibility, so essentially you will get your wish. In fact, we are hoping that the redesign will bring a lot more traffic into the smaller forums.

DU in general has been doing a fine job in helping to recruit people OUT of your 'cause'.  You guys make for great examples of demonstrating idiocy.

Real men get tombstoned at the DUmp. Real men wouldn't put up with the effeminate drivel expected of them at  the DUmp.

April is right. The men's forum is dead because there are no men at DU.
