Suppose McCain/Palin had won the last election and all we had to choose from were 8 ass clowns like the GOP has right now running for the Democratic nomination.

Hate to think about something like that. There must be a bunch of Republicans right on the verge of going completely berserk about now.

Interesting the world of denial they live in.

While not my candidate of choice,for a sitting President to be in a dead heat 12 months before election day historically does not bode well for them.
Ask nadin,am sure she has studied the history on this.

Quite simply, on election day Obama won't be running against 8 GOP candidates, he'll be running against 1 (and maybe Ron Paul as an independent) with the usual smattering of third party candidates.  If the best that Obama has to offer in a year is that unemployment stayed around 9 percent for the last two years of his term, I'd say he would be pretty much done for.  He doesn't have much to offer except high government spending, and the best that he can argue about that is the unprovable statement that the economy would have been in worse shape without it.

If much more happens with the Occupy protests, mainstreet America may lash out against the Democrats as well.

This is like a mirror-image of 2004 when every Democrat with any sort of name recognition jumped up to the podium to run against President Bush.  It was a circus.  I don't care what stupid asshole stands up against Barack Obama and says "I should be President, not him!".  When you have Al Sharpton on your side, you've already lost.
