1. The latest from Mr. Staples about McQueary...

A lot of sport sites talking about Paterno's tarnished legacy. Shit. We haven't got ****ing close to the bottom of this tale.

Tarnished will not be close to the ****in' word to describe JoePa's legacy.

I dunno if it's anywhere else yet, but the Omaha World-Herald announced McQueary will not be coaching for Penn State during the game on Saturday.

3. Not a Barry Switzer fan, but he is the first one to state the obvious....

EVERYBODY KNEW. The whispers were going on for years. And instead of focusing on the Penn State University hierarchy, who hid this thing for ****ing God knows how long, we're focusing on a 28 year old GA at the time who worshipped at the Penn State altar. Played QB when Sandusky was there. The legendary Sandusky, who set up the game plan to beat Herschel Walker and Georgia. Then, four years later, a genuius display of coaching to beat Miami. Yet, everybody ****ing knows what they would have done in McQueary's stead. Do you, now? Seeing that despicable sight of someone you idolized engaged in a hideous act with a child. No one knows what went through his head. Except him. Sorry. With his background, no one can speak for him. It's pure speculation on anyone's part to say what they would have done. I do find it hard to believe that he is the main focal point of this whole deal. At LEAST, he did something. Granted, it wasn't much. No one else did a ****ing thing. Flame away.

4. Just give me a good reason, any good reason, that McQueary would have...

to not intervene and only report it to his superior.

That is the question that was on The Drive Home on KOA tonight.

But he should be like me. I would have stopped it and gone to the police. Even if I knew Sandusky would knock off the DA.

Are you going to blame this on youth? Are you ****ing kidding me? I'll go the other direction. I blame this on fat cats who are looking for a scapegoat to be the face of this heinous crime. One that should take down one of the biggest universities in the US. As it should be.

This is a situation that could take down one of the biggest universities in the United States. And if there was a cover-up of the magnitude that appears to be, so be it. In the meantime, we'll use a little known 28 year old GA as the scapegoat. Every individual in the upper echelon knew what was going on. The question is why did they let it go on for so long?

And now, the condom primitive's shack-up mate:

10. As a caveat...

I will say that I condone nothing that occured. It's a shame I even have to say this, but there is an aura of public hysteria that starts to make such statements necessary.

McQueary was a teenager when he began his life with Penn State. Paterno and Sandusky were not only his icons, but major authority figures. So, at 28, as a graduate assistant, he witnessed something that had to be both surreal and flat terrifying. I'm certain it took a great amount of courage to report it to Paterno in the first place. Yes, going to the police would have been the best thing with seven years of hindsight. However, perhaps at the time, going to Paterno was the best act of bravery he could summon.

Now you can say you would have beaten Sandusky on the spot or called the police or stepped into a phone booth and donned your cape and tights, but me, I would have pissed myself. It would have been horrifying.

Perhaps McQueary didn't do enough, but for the love of the sweet baby jesus, the powerful men, the President of the University, the Vice President of Finance (the true power broker), the coach himself, they all did absolutely nothing. And yet, we choose to sit here on flipping message boards and blame the damned messenger.

Lucky to have reached a level of maturity that many people haven't by that age and unlucky, too, since those are hard lesson. Me? I'm the child of that era, and a Marine's daughter. Respecting authority and the chain of command was drilled into me. I'm not being disingenuous when I say that in a situation similar to McQueary's, I would have been scared out of my socks.

a dumb ass douchebag. After all this time, it feels like a badge of honor. I simply will not pretend to great courage when it is a situation I have not faced. I do not, nor have I said I support McQueary, what I have said is that there are many people in positions of far greater authority who did far less. Reason suggests that there are other individuals who bear responsibility for not following through with the authorities.

McQueary played at Penn State. And no matter what sport you are in, how do you view your coach? Depends. Fear? Respect? Hard to say in each case. I'm saying no one has the authority to judge McQueary because you are not in his world, at the time. No one know's what that ****ing terrible sight registered in his mind.

Liars the both of you.

You support the immorality of homosexuality, ergo you support (whether you agree or not) the sin no matter how it's carried out.  All you're wanting to do is pick and choose which part of immorality is OK and which part of it is unacceptable.  Doesn't work that way.  Too late.  You support it, you get to pay the ultimate price for being an advocate of it.

All that talking about what they would have done, should have done but I bet they still think Queers should be allowed to be Boy Scout leaders.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

All that talking about what they would have done, should have done but I bet they still think Queers should be allowed to be Boy Scout leaders.

This opens a vast chasm of questions in the light of today.  Very complicated problems and no easy answers.

We know how whistle blowers are treated, some end up dead.

Law and litigation face anyone who goes to the police to report a crime with no proof.  The young fella who witnessed all this must have been scared to death and called his father for advice on how to handle the situation, Dad must have advised him to follow the chain of command and report to his seniors, not to go over their heads to the police with no proof.    Remember the witnesses did not know the identity of the children involved and had no idea if they would have the victim admit to rape.

Have to remember the police department is not going all out to investigate a powerful, influential, person on the word of just one person, proof they need.

I believe the people that reported this assistant coach and what they witnessed were doing all they could without getting run out of town on a rail by friends and supporters of the accused.

This is exactly what the pedophiles depend on, making a good name in the comunity, working with kids, never touching a child from an influential family, only the kids from troubled family's.

This was the responsibility of the informed to make an investigation in to the allegations against a valuable member of the organization, some one they would cover for up to murder.

So the accusations came in dibs and dabs, they respond by taking away the keys to the locker room, but still give him access to the players, they can do nothing about his famed work with little boys in a foundation he formed and is famous for.

Powerful people down to those living in a tent will protect those that they love or are of great benefit to them.

Eveyone involved with the cover up needs to get hauled over the coals. I am sure this was not a closed secret in the comunity, many must have known about it and for what ever their agenda, ignored or refused to believe the whispers and innuendos for Years.

We never want to believe someone we know and admire is a MONSTER, especially if they have only done right by us.

Lot's of nasty stuff going on below the surfice in this case, people who did know better are digging like crazy to cover up all the facts and deny they knew about this MONSTER.

It must be HELL to be 84 years old and watch as 61 years of hard work are destroyed because of belief in a pedophile, a slick customer that gained his trust.     Could it be that it was the upper management that warned off the Coach to leave this alone ????

At least with the alcoholic DUmmy Pitt it was girls.

It's just really silly, that argument about the "immorality" of the thing, whereas primitives on Skins's island generally for the most part are enthusiastically in favor of these sorts of things, in their respect for "diversity."

The condom primitive's about my age, born circa 1960, born and raised in Pennsylvania, went to college--first--in Ohio.  Odds are good he's a relative of mine, like a seventh cousin nine times removed or something.

He's still in college, probably trying to defer paying off those student loans.

An aspiring sportswriter.

How the Hell he ended up in, of all places, Iowa, I have no idea.

The rabid terrapin primitive's a femme, one of those sorts who even though she doesn't know anything about a topic--in this case, sports--she hangs around in such forums, imagining she's hanging around with guys.  In this case, since he's the "cool" one of the bunch, she's obviously sucking up to the condom primitive.

The truemud primitive, who with the now gone-away forkboy primitive chased away the only primitive who knew a damned thing about sports, the cboy4 primitive, is, well, the truemud primitive.  All he knows about sports is what he gets from watching them on television.  He's sort of the sparkling husband dude of the sports forum.

El Stupido is a Texas fan, although I don't know which team in Texas.  I always pictured him as some punk kid, but apparently he's older than that.  I dunno.
