Stars?
« on: November 05, 2011, 12:20:38 PM »
Not a suggestion or feedback but a question.  What do the number and color of the stars under the username indicate?
Please forgive me if this is in the wrong section but it seemed to fit best here.

Thanks!

You know, sir, I was the 43rd member to register here--so very long ago; I just barely missed out on being a "founder," as Ptarmigan beat me to it--and I've always wondered myself, but never thought to ask.

The number of stars relates to the number of posts a member has contributed, in levels.  I don't know what the individual levels are, but I can look them up if necessary.

The color of the stars relates to one's position in board management, i.e. all regular members have the same color stars, members of the staff have different colors, depending on their positions.

Regular members - Gold
Topic Moderators - Green
Global Moderators - Blue
Administrators - Red

That brings up another question then.  Since some of the mods/admin have separate names for normal and official posting, do the colors change between names?

Yes.....when a mod is posting under a "regular member" account, his/her stars will be gold just like any other member.

I just looked up the "star levels":

100  posts = 1 star (just off probation)
150 posts = 3 stars (full member)
500 posts = 4 stars
1000 posts = 5 stars
