Have you gone to your local occupy?

Edited on Fri Oct-28-11 12:04 AM by nadinbrzezinski

I went today for the vigil, and that meant much closer to the General Assembly...this meant close to 100 people were present, and there was some lively political discussion.

So here is one constant I got...people are pissed. To paraphrase one of the people, what happened to her American dream? She's lived and worked here for thirty five years, and yes...paid taxes...she does not even have health insurance

Another sees the abuse of the Medicare system with unnecessary tests with her mother, oh and she can't see a doctor either.

Then there is the nam vet who's getting one regular meal now, who can't get into low income housing...yes he's one of them invisible people, to get back on his feet...current wait in this city...ten years.

Did I mention the guy who owns five houses, rentals, who wants to pay his fair share?

They get it, it's the system.

Then there is the healthcare activist...

The college student who already has a 60k debt.

The construction worker who gets work a few times.

The mother with her kids, afraid they don't have a future.

Oh and I did confirm my diagnosis. The tents are a health hazard because they are attracting the wrong element.

My only complaint is not the smell, I ain't an innocent flower, but the smoking and it has to do with my freaking asthma.

Oh and as to the vigil, it was a minute of silence. I should have brought the candles, dopey me.

Yes, I went to my local occupy.  It was one day Nadin.  ONE STINKIN' SATURDAY !!!!

They don't get it.  No solidarity, no camping out, no Billy Jack singing One Tin Soldier, NOTHING !!

I brought a camera, they wouldn't let me take pictures.  How rude !!  How is truth to power spread if we can't take pictures ??

I think everyone should go to their local occupy.  It's good to put a face to the local trouble making moonbats !!   :lmao:

Same here, with the additional element of too many "good ol' boys", "rednecks", and "conceal carry permit holders" who will NOT put up with such bullshit.

Come to think of it, aren't the highest concentration of OWS protests in the cities with the strictest gun control laws, while out here in the "boonies", not a peep.

Also people I talked to had nothing good to say about...the GOP and a lively debate was had on why obama should be reelected. For the most part I was there as a reporter...I need to turn puter on to load photos by the way.

LOL !  Nadin, you're in liberal utopia.  Of course no one likes the GOP there.  They want what the GOP have.  Be serious now.

Oh about those photos you took ? I think you got those from them Google and copied them to your puter pic file. Yep.  Them look like them been stolen.  I expected more from you Miss Reporter on the ground.

She gave decon intructions for tear gas? I think this is chicken shit. If nads was really sincere she would be there 24/7 leading the medical team. With all of her vast experience, medical and otherwise, in danger zones I wonder if the movie and series M*A*S*H was loosely based on portions of her life.

I saw a sign in a shop window about when the gang will be rolling through town.  Forgot to note the date.  If I'm free I'll probably stroll by and see who I know.  I heard they are occupying a relative's place outside Jackson and dropping into town during the day like any other tourist.  Must be a nice place because they've stayed there longer than expected.

I did that back in my wasted youth, with very little support. So the folks who sat on their butts during that time? Are more than welcome to try to make up for that now, while I continue to repair the damage my activism did to what passes for my life. Good luck, all. We missed you back in '04.

They get it, it's the system.

Then there is the healthcare activist... Translation another liberal arts major without a future that wants free health care.
The college student who already has a 60k debt.  Who held a gun to it's head and forced him to take a loan in medevil musical instruments?
The construction worker who gets work a few times. I don't know how about change of careers or move to an area that has work?

The mother with her kids, afraid they don't have a future. She should have lived up to her liberal credentials and aborted them sparing them a life of hardship and work.
Oh and I did confirm my diagnosis. The tents are a health hazard because they are attracting the wrong element. Tents are a health hazard or the occupants?

Typically, nads, you look past the problem which is on the individual level and instead blame "the system".  It isn't "the system", dear, it's you and your kind that have broken our society with your encouragement and coddling of failure.

Nadin is starting to remind me of Fire Marshall Bill.

Channeling nadin: I gave Fire Marshall Bill them lectures on fire safey. Oh and they covered everything from spontaneous combustion to a little thing called radiation burns from UFO exhausts. Oh...and yes I included them pesky sections on not touching fire because it was hot. Fire Marshall Bill was not a good student. I eventually had to remove my fire-safety-lecturing hat and put on my burn-victim-salvation hat AFTER I had put on my knock-his-non-learning-ass-in-the-fire hat.
