General props and respect to my cousin
« on: October 20, 2011, 08:37:32 PM »
She and three friends just finished a cross country bicycle ride.  88 days and 4530 miles. They sold virtually everything they owned and moved to Portland, OR.  Six of them started with their back tires in the Atlantic Ocean in Sandwich, MA; four finished with their front tires in the Pacific Ocean near Warrenton, OR. They tried to average 50-60 miles a day with two shorter days and one off day a week.

That's quite an achievement.  At my age, I can only vaguely remember having goals like that.  But it's cool they did what they set out to do.  Memories of a lifetime and all.

I hope they had fun, met the best of the best of our country, and carry that energy into great things for themselves and their communities!

A real accomplishment, indeed!

It would be nice to know some of the stats:

How many flat tires they incurred along the way, how many close calls with traffic they had (had to have been at least a few -  :o - ), and a couple stories of the more meaningful/memorable experiences.

Bravo for her, happy to hear she made it safe and sound!
