Am I the only one who is not a big fan of the name "Occupy" for this movement?
 To me, the word "Occupy" implies defiance and confrontation. While I favor peaceful defiance and passive resistance, I don't think the word "occupy" sells well in the media, nor does it sound great to people who are uninformed about what they are doing. It just has a negative connotation in general.

It would be better to have a more positive sounding name that shows how inclusive the movement is. If it were me I would call it simply "We the People". Then every time the jerks in the media mention what is happening, even though they're trying to spin it in a negative way, they can't avoid reminding the viewers that it's "We the People" they're talking about. Like now, Rush Limbaugh can refer to "those damn Occupiers" and it sounds right. But "Those damn 'We the people' folks" kinda makes him sound rather silly.

Am I the only one who thinks the name "Occupy" is not the best choice for the name of a movement that wants to be seen as populist and truly gain support from 99% of the country?

I realize I have no right to make suggestions like this because I'm sitting here at home while the real folks who have a say are out on the streets and thus far all I've done to support them is share some links on facebook and sent them some pizza money. But for what it's worth, that's my 2 cents... A more positive-sounding, inclusive name would help the movement thrive and grow... Stupid as it may sound, there really is something to a name.

So far, so good; nadin's answered the garybeck primitive's question asking if he's the only one.

It is civil disobedience.

Okay, nadin's calling it what it is, no problem.

And the indignados will not sell in the us.

Talk about hitting a speed bump.

Is nadin saying "branding" (naming, labeling) something that hints of anger or rage isn't a "marketable" name in contemporary society, or is she saying green peas are better than yellow corn?

I have no idea.  Really.

One wonders why the opinions of the Chechnyans are relevant.

Every day I become more convinced that the mastermind behind this hippie "Occupy" (or "Occuppy" in nadinese) business has got to be Karl Rove.

What could anyone do that would be more effective in marginalizing democrat politicians?

By adopting, verbatim, the class-warfare demogogic language of the jug-eared Kenyan and the rest of his democrat gang, the hippies have virtually forced them to express support.

In doing that, they're alienated from the mass of dim-witted but otherwise decent voters who call themselves "independents".

In a close election, those numbskulled "undecideds" swing the balance.

It's a master stroke from The Rove.

When you write/type occupy it is spelled and looks to much like occupation which can have 2 meanings. One of those meanings may indicate a job or profession which requires work and that is to close for comfort to what DUmmies truly hates, work. So, occupy is out. The new DUmmie term is "Squatting".

Also, to occupy a place you may have to stand up. Squatting requires less work and is more suitable to the DUmmies true nature.

...and DUmmie menz love the squatting position. They can admire their new high heels up close and personal.
