Yes, wealth is finite, it can neither be created nor destroyed, only redistributed.

4. That's really why it needs to be taxed away

because when the lower 90% is expected to shoulder the entire burden of government and their incomes are steadily falling, government is not able to keep up with things like maintaining the infrastructure.

It's not just your paycheck that suffered. It's roads, bridges, dams, the electrical grid, the electronic grid, the rail system. We've fallen behind most of the rest of the first world on all this stuff because a few rich men have stripmined this country for the last 30+ years.

I still want to start the STEAL IT BACK movement.

The government is too busy buying votes from the moochers to spend money on infrastructure.

Octafish is a long-time DUmmy whose post count runs into the high five-figure range.

Plus, he's the author of all those interminable "Know Your BFEE" posts that copy and paste virtual reams of "data" regarding the dastardly deeds of one shadowy world domination group after another, which of course end up in the September 11 dungeon.

My guess is if he had spent just a portion of the time it took to research his tinfoil shit and hang around DU talking it up, and invest it in learning some marketable skill, he would likely be "making thousands of dollars more right now".

Instead, he'd rather sit around ruminating over how unfair it is that someone got ahead of him in life.

Tough shit for Octafish.

So how did Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Ford, etc rip us off exactly? And how would paying the former Steve Jobs less mean thousands of dollars for you? A few years ago people were using the CEO of Coke as a example of this thinking. They took his yearly multi million dollar salary and they divided up his pay among all the employees. They calculated that every worker would get a whopping 43 cents a hour more. Or $860 more a year based on a 40 hour week and 50 weeks a year.

My specifics may be off since I have not read the article in a few years but that is the gist of it. Maybe tomorrow I will try to find it again.

Better yet, let's just say "**** innovation and creativity" and we'd still be paying $100 in 1975 dollars for four-function, six-digit calculators.

Warpy, you ignorant scrunt.

I'm about had it up to here [holding left hand up to my chin] with you whiny DUmbasses wanting to "steal" the money I have invested from my taxed earnings to create a fund from which I intend to survive in my retirement, and am hopeful that I can pass a little of it unto my heirs. I had the audacity in my early years to take a fine practical skill set taught to me by my Dad farming and turn it into a fine career as a "fixer" for the engineering firm I now work for.

What have you done for society? I help our clients keep the electrical current flowing to you abode so that you can idle away vast amounts of time on the internets bad mouthing all that is good and decent in America. My life, my skills, my knowledge is dedicated to maintaining and creating that infrastructure.

And now, as I near the date of my change from a life of work to a life of liesure, you want to "steal" from me the fruits of my endeavours? Meh!

Don't come near me when I am practicing my hobby skills, now or after my retirement. Keep your crooked, bony meathooks away from the wealth I have stashed away to supplement Social Security (if there is any left for me).

And how come you aren't out baking free pies for the gubmint workers?

Here's a thought, reduce government until it's not a burden.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

The fact that this thought comes so readily to the likes of you and I is the biggest reason we'll never hold elective office. :cheers1:
