I keep hearing people on the right asking people
   
if they want to wait a month to see their doctor under socialized medicine. Well, I just tried to make an appointment with a psychiatrist and guess what? The next appointment he had is 6 weeks from now. I've called several offices and its all the same, so STFU right wingers.

PS. I really think this shows that there is something very wrong with our society that so many people need mental help, but it is good that they seem to be seeking that help.

Nearly zero psychiatrists offer therapy anymore. I heard that on NPR the focus now is just giving patients medications rather than the couch anymore.

Therefore, you are probably going to wait 6 weeks just to get some pills.

Having just gone to a few specialists I had a few of them say I had to wait 6+ weeks to see them. I did find one that I could go to but that is only because my wife is a nurse and knew which places would be the right ones to go to for less of a wait.

Our healthcare system is about making $$$. You're not optimizing profit if you have doctors waiting around to see people. So you make a shortage of specialists then have all their time spent optimized. Making the most $$$ they can.

Blame that on the medical schools/associations and state licensing agencies.

So you want to tell the doctors, nurses, technicians, pharmacists, researchers, manufacturers, distributors, custodians, administrators etc how much they should be allowed to earn. You feel it is your right to dictate to them the size of their house, how much vacation they're allowed to take, what luxuries if any they are allowed to have and in what quantity, what sort of school they should be allowed to send their children to.

All those people are supposed to be at your beck and call and you have the right to determine the richness of their personal lives.

I think the word you are looking for is: TYRANNY

That's always my suggestion to the primitives, sir, but the primitives don't listen.

There's nothing that cures "depression" or physical ailments such as obesity, more than having a job, doing work, supporting oneself by one's own efforts.

But alas, the primitives would just as soon have some drugs.....paid for by you and I.

When I have had serious medical issues I have gotten in right away. My daughter had allergies and I did have wait about a month to get her in to see an allergy doctor but seasonal allergies aren't life or death. Some of the serious issues I have had was my right carotid, subclavian and vertebral arteries were closing and my current rhuematologist at the time didn't take me seriously (said I had anorexia). I got in to see a neurologist the next day and was in the hospital the following day having stints placed in all three arteries. When my uveitis acts up I can get in to see an eye specialist the same day. Specialists are always busy because they are SPECIALISTS. I bet you can get in to see your GP within a day if you have something semi serious like a fever and sore throat.

I have other examples but I think I have given enough. If it is an emergency with your mental health issue, go to the friggen ER and they will get you help.
